I was delighted for the opportunity to try out the Bright Skin Cosmetic Laser (worth SGD$168.00) at CSK DermaCare. My laser treatment must be performed by a doctor, so only selective outlets offer this laser treatment. CSK DermaCare is operated by ClearSK Aesthetics Group, providing a wide range of aesthetics services for our skincare needs.

The Bright Skin Cosmetic Laser is a fuss-free laser procedure with minimal pain and zero downtime. It brightens the skin, making pigmentation and other imperfections appear lighter. Plus, it gives the benefits of a brightening facial - all within a span of roughly 20 minutes.

The Tiong Bahru outlet is relatively small, but it is tastefully decorated. I took a seat and was attended to pretty quickly.  No numbing cream was applied on my face after makeup removal by therapist.

Then the doctor came in to cover my eyes with goggles. He touched the laser device to my face while explaining each step and benefits. Each touch of the device caused a frisson of pain (like an ant's bite) because of the heat. There was also a mild burning smell but Doctor assured me that it was normal, and nothing to worry about.

The treatment was fast, so you can even come for a quick lunchtime laser session! The therapist gave me a soothing and hydrating Aloe Vera Mask to apply that night.

My skin felt and looked very radiant after that. I didn't have makeup on the entire day, but still felt confident because my skin was glowing and bright.

Bionn International was my go-to place for my facial issues, the very first facial treatment centre I signed up for. Due to personal reasons, I have stopped visiting them but was surprised to receive their call to return now, after a decade.

Founded in 2003, Bionn International uses a suite of facial services and house-brand products to provide solutions for customers' skin issues. This award-winning beauty centre has upgraded its services to medi-aestbetics level now, having their own doctors and are able to provide even fillers and boosters, etc.

They have 3 outlets now, at Singapore Shopping Centre, Peck Seah Street and One KM Mall - I returned to the SSC branch. Still donning its corporate colors of blue and white, the outlet seemed to have undergone a facelift, looking even more comfortable and professional now.  The centre manager, consultant and therapists seem to be more well-spoken and customer-oriented now (in the past they were very huge on hard-selling and up-selling).

I changed into the gown and the therapist removed my makeup before doing cleansing. Then a machine was uses remove dead skin cells using some kind of suction tube.

Following that, extraction and eye brow shaping. Next, another device was used to kill bacteria using some infrared light - made a buzzing sound and had a strong door but gentle on the skin.

Moving on, facial massage which felt very good and lifting. Then a generous layer of Hydraulic Acid was spread over my face. Another equipment was brought into the room, attached with a black nozzle that produced suction to open up the pores for better absorption and deeper penetration of the hydraulic acid. There was water being sprayed with each contact on the skin as well, extremely quenching sensation.

clear and moisturised my skin fared, after the treatment.

Finally, the application of a cooling Stem Cell mask over my face as well as Protein Eye Treatment Mask while I tested for 20-30 minutes. Brand finale was toner and moisturizer, followed by a consultation.

My skin felt moisturizer and brighter, utterly soothed. The Aqua Filler Facial costs SGD$280.00 a session and is undeniably beneficial for my skin; I should come back more often.

Review of PDRN Skin Renewal Therapy by Renaza @ Palais Renaissance

PDRN is one of the newest trends in beauty sector, a breakthrough technology that goes under the surface of the skin to treat it effectively- within minimum downtime. PDRN stands for Polydeoxyriboneuclotide, a substance harvested from Salmon DNA.  It is a powerful natural healing ingredient, and helps our skin in terms of wound healing, anti-inflammatory as well as promotes cell growth and regeneration.

I visited Renaza Wellness Lifestyle Lab at its other outlet, at Marina Bay Link Mall for a Collagen Facial (review here). I am glad to be back at Renaza to try the PDRN Booster (SGD$600.00); it's Orchard outlet is even more spacious and lovely.

Unlike Rejuran Treatment (review here) which injects PDRN directly into the skin, and can only be done by certified doctors, PDRN Renewal Treatment here uses a different method to administer the same 2ml of serum into the skin. This special serum comprises PDRN, hyaluronic acid, glutathione and peptides - powerful ingredients to heal and improve skin conditions.  Let's see how it works.

First, my skin was cleansed by the therapist, followed by a Honey and Almond Scrub that smelled really delectable. This would remove all impurities for better absorption of the treatment.

Then a Collagen Hydrating Mask was spread over my face for about 10 to 15 minutes, to prepare my skin for the treatment. The mask had a strangely aromatic smell that reminded me of sandalwood.

The Epicells Booster machine was rolled in. This uses air pressure forming a substantial jet wave to deliver the PDRN serum at 450m/s.  The high pressure opens pores to deliver the active constituents of micro-molecules deep into the skin through atomization. The therapist tested the jet out on my shoulder first, to ensure I was okay with the jet of pressure that would "smack" the serum into my skin. Then she covered my ears (because machine was a little noisy) and eyes.

Treatment commenced, jets of serum went "piak-piak" onto my face, felt like I was flicking it (mild prick but not painful). I was only afraid the strong jets would hit my eyes but the therapist was very meticulous with her work. She increased the speed of the jets delivery when I was comfortable enough.

The Epicells Booster Treatment serves to stimulate collagen production, regenerate cells, minimizing flaws (spots, scars, acne, wrinkles etc), brightens skin, lighten pigmentation, lifts skin, clears pores and sebum. That's a lot of benefits in one short 30 minutes procedure!

Half my face was done first, to show me the difference. After a total of 1,000 shots fired, treatment was completed.

My skin was hydrated, brighter and pores looked tighter. The differences between this PDRN Skin Renewal Therapy and Rejuran are that (1) this has very minimal downtime (2) hence, can be done on a weekly basis while Rejuran' s on month-long intervals (3) results are gentler than Rejuran (4) can be performed by aestheticians and beauticians  (5) less costly than Rejuran treatments.

All in all, I rather enjoyed the experience a d the way it makes my skin feel. Thank you Renaza Wellness Lifestyle Lab!

In my last chapter of The Mommyhood Series, I shared about my pregnancy journey (click here to read). Today, I would like to share my experience at Schöne Mama for their Pre-natal Massage and Pure Organic Facial (worth SGD$275.00).

With a name like Schöne Mama, I was surprised that they originated from China, and it means "美丽妈妈" (beautiful mother). Schöne Mama started in 2005, specialising in post-birth recovery services, and it has more than 300 outlets worldwide today. The first Singapore outlet was opened in 2016, receiving raving reviews since. I was psyched to have the opportunity to try out their services.

The outlet at Ngee Ann City is located on level 5, done up in pristine white with dashes of blue and green. The consultants and therapists were all experienced and friendly, having many years of experience in their respective trades.

After a consultation session answering questions regarding my lifestyle and pregnancy so far, the Pre-natal Massage commenced. It was a one-hour full body massage starting from the feet to torso to head. My masseur was a bubbly Thai lady in her late 40s or early 50s.

The Pre-natal Massage was very comfortable, using only plant-based natural oils. It aims at helping to relieve body aches, improve skin elasticity, strengthen back muscles, promote relaxation, improve overall wellness and most importantly, reduce water retention.

Following that, I enjoyed a 30-minute Pure Organic Facial using products with natural ingredients such as Centella, French Musk Rose Oil, etc.

It was soothing and very enjoyable as well, resulting in a glowing complexion at the end of it.

My treatment concluded with a nutritious bowl of some grains with red dates, for nourishing the skin.

Overall, I had a wonderful time here, feeling pampered and beautiful as a mom-to-be. Their professionalism and friendly service was very heart-warming as well. Thank you Schöne Mama for the excellent treatment.

Happy me got to try Happy Lift by the experienced Dr. Elias Tam of EHA Clinic, Orchard. Dr. Elias Tam has decades of experience with dermatology and hair-care, aids with beauty medical research, trains doctors on newest beauty technology, gives interviews on radios and is on the panel of judges for Miss Singapore Universe pageants. I am honoured to be working with him on my skincare needs.

Now, back to the topic at hand. What is Happy Lift exactly, and what does it do for us beauty-loving females (and males, too)?

Let's see. In the past, whenever we hoped to achieve a sharper chin, sharper nose or to simply look younger with firm-looking skin, we would immediately think of surgical facelift. These days, Threadlifts have been the up and coming trends, offering natural and subtle-looking lifting results which are minimally invasive, and without the downtime of a facial surgery.

There are many types of Threadlifts out there, and Happy Lift is a breakthrough beauty technology using special, absorbable threads made of Poly-Lactic-Caprolactone. It is able to rejuvenate the skin without altering any facial features, and does not leave any scars. One session of this can last 1 - 2 years, depending on each individual's unique skin type.

What are the areas that Happy Lift is suitable for?

I chose to try this treatment for my jaws area, in the hope of attaining a sharp-V jawline. The entire procedure took only about 1 hour, including numbing cream's waiting time.

How does Happy Lift work?

1. Step One: Pre-Treatment
Advised to limit / avoid caffeine and nicotine products, as well as fruits / supplement rich in anti-oxidants to prevent bruising.

2. Anaesthetics
This treatment requires local anaesthetics to lessen the pain, therefore anaesthetics is usually administered 15 - 30 minutes before the procedure, depending on each individual's pain tolerance level.

3. Marking Out of Areas to be Sutured
Areas close to the hairline will be marked as the entry and exit points for the threads.

4.  Implantation of Threads Into Skin
The injection of the threads take place, inserted into the sub-dermis layer of the skin though pin-pricked sized punctures. I felt a slight piercing sensation as the threads entered, and Dr. Elias gently threaded it along my jawline. I understand from the nurses here that different patients have different reactions - some found it to be painful, whereas others thought the agony to be subtle. I did not even furrow my brows though-out the session.

Dr. Elias expertly explained each step as we went along, and chatted with me so that I felt comfortable and assured of the safety of this procedure. There might be a little bleeding but nothing to be alarmed about.

5. Cutting of Whiskers
The threads have safely threaded through my face, and I understand that the barbs along these threads provide new support scaffolding for the surrounding soft facial tissues, lifting them and holding them firmly in place.

Dr. Elias set to cutting the threads that protruded from my cheeks, making me look like I had whiskers. Cute, but I could not move those whiskers.

6. Post-Procedure
The local anaesthetics slowly wear off, so slight swelling and aching were experienced. There was no scarring as promised, but very tiny lumps where the entry and exit points were (those disappeared within days).  I was advised not to go for any facial massage for the next 8 weeks (around 2 months).

Over time, the sutures are slowly absorbed into the body over the next 8 -12 months, stimulating collagen growth so that not only chin is sharper, but skin would appear smoother as well.

Overall, I enjoyed this session of Happy Lift, and am thankful to be able to try it out, under the care and expertise of Dr. Elias and team at EHA Clinic. It is my very first thread lift, and I actually look forward to enhancing more of my features with this safe and effective treatment.  Thank you Dr. Elias Tam and EHA Clinic for Happy Lift = happy me!

Modern Beauty Salon (现代美容中心) has been around for 27 years and have multiple outlets across Hong Kong and Singapore, providing a wide range of beauty services using quality products. The range of beauty services include facial treatments, medical facials, slimming, massages and spas. They also sell a range of salon-grade beauty products under Ferracare, BeYu, Biotin, Fanola etc.

I was honoured to be invited for a session of their Detox V-lifting Golden Caviar Treatment at the Orchard outlet - a lavishly-decorated salon complete with bright chandelier lights and lots of glass panels. The treatment rooms were comfortable, and therapists experienced, soft-spoken and thoughtful. My only little complaints were that the treatment rooms were a little warm, and there was no music so the silence during treatment could be a little awkward.

They serve 3 kinds of teas before and after the treatments, while we sit in the consultation room - I tried the Goji (Wolfberry) Tea and Ginger Tea, both soothing and delicious. Needless to say, these beautifully-colored teas complement the beauty treatments as well.

After tucking me into the soft blankets comfortably, my therapist removed my makeup and did a round of cleansing, using the special range of Pen's Golden Caviar products. Then there was a round of steaming for my face while she massaged my shoulders, back and arms. Extraction of whiteheads and blackheads was performed on my pores afterwards.

Next, a clear Caviar Collagen and Royal Jelly Honey gel was applied to my face - very cooling sensation, while she showed me a three-forked metallic device, to be used on my face, to perform whats known as the Meridien (Jin Luo) Massage. It could get a little uncomfortable at the neck areas, especially when the lymph nodes are more clogged (something like that, according to her explanation).

Following that, another aqua-colored Facial Mask was applied to my face, this time I was asked to rest for around 20 minutes while the mask set in. The final step was removal of the mask and applying of toner and moisturiser for me.

The entire treatment was very comfortable, and my skin felt supple and hydrated, enriched but not greasy. My face also seemed to slim down immediately, with all that massage and quality gold caviar products. If you are interested to take up their facial packages, they have a really interesting arrangement where you can choose a different treatment each session, not tied to just one type of facial; their pricing is also very reasonable.

After enjoying the Rejuran Treatment (review here) at Elias Tam Hair & Aesthetics (EHA) Clinic, I was excited to be back, this time trying the Red LED Light Therapy (SGD$130.00).

What's this treatment about? It is a quick, efficient and painless treatment with multiple benefits - using red light penetration into the dermis to boost circulation and produce collagen. In short, treat the face for issues such as acne, scars, eczema and wrinkles etc.

My makeup was cleansed and my eyes were covered with several layers. A layer of cooling serum was applied to my skin while the therapist warned me that the red light would "feel like the sun is directly above you" (citing her exact words!)

Dr. Elias Tam himself assured me that the light was safe, so I closed my eyes and went to rest while my skin received this treatment.

Boy, was the therapist's words right on cue - in my shut-eye world of darkness, I could feel the bright red glare invade my darkness, painting it red. Physically I didn't feel any discomfort or heat though, so all was good.

After about 20 minutes, the device was shut off and I slowly opened my eyes. With the mirror above me, I could see that my skin was glowing with bright fairness and supple. It felt so good, I went shopping in town with my naked bright face.
