Bright Skin Cosmetic Laser at CSK DermaCare @ Tiong Bahru Plaza

302 Tiong Bahru Road, #02-121 Tiong Bahru Plaza, Singapore 168732
Tel: 6100 6886

I was delighted for the opportunity to try out the Bright Skin Cosmetic Laser (worth SGD$168.00) at CSK DermaCare. My laser treatment must be performed by a doctor, so only selective outlets offer this laser treatment. CSK DermaCare is operated by ClearSK Aesthetics Group, providing a wide range of aesthetics services for our skincare needs.

The Bright Skin Cosmetic Laser is a fuss-free laser procedure with minimal pain and zero downtime. It brightens the skin, making pigmentation and other imperfections appear lighter. Plus, it gives the benefits of a brightening facial - all within a span of roughly 20 minutes.

The Tiong Bahru outlet is relatively small, but it is tastefully decorated. I took a seat and was attended to pretty quickly.  No numbing cream was applied on my face after makeup removal by therapist.

Then the doctor came in to cover my eyes with goggles. He touched the laser device to my face while explaining each step and benefits. Each touch of the device caused a frisson of pain (like an ant's bite) because of the heat. There was also a mild burning smell but Doctor assured me that it was normal, and nothing to worry about.

The treatment was fast, so you can even come for a quick lunchtime laser session! The therapist gave me a soothing and hydrating Aloe Vera Mask to apply that night.

My skin felt and looked very radiant after that. I didn't have makeup on the entire day, but still felt confident because my skin was glowing and bright.

Thank you ClearSK / CSK DermaCare for the beautiful bright skin cosmetic laser treatment!

Lunch at Sufood Vegetarian Restaurant @ City Hall

252 North Bridge Road, #02-19, Raffles City Shopping Centre, Singapore 179103
Tel: 6333 5338

Lunch with another client, this time a vegetarian, who strongly recommended Sufood Restaurant to me.

The restaurant is nestled in a corner of Raffles City Shopping Centre, near the escalators and spa services. Simple in design, with friendly service crew, they specialise in curated vegetarian dining with an emphasis on wholesome food.

They have various 4-course set meals (SGD$25.80), 6-course set meals (SGD$31.80) and 8-course set meals ($36.80).

We started with the Wholesome Trio (SGD$4.90, if ordered as an a la carte item).
Pleasing to the eyes and utterly palatable, this trio consists of Cherry Tomato Jelly, White Water Snowflake with Red. Pepper, Japanese Yuca Root with Blueberry Sauce.

Then we had Energized Salad with Avocado and Macadamia, a simple but tasty salad of fresh ingredients and crunch.

We also enjoyed a nutritious Miso-Kombu Soup with Shimeiji Mushrooms and Lotus Seed, and Sufood's signature Rosemary Breadsticks.

The chosen mains was Chickpea Rice Burger with Sweet Potato Fries (SGD$13.80 if ordered as a la carte).

Finally, dessert of Earl Grey Ice-cream Cookie Sandwich, which was creamy and decadent, the perfect ending to our meal.

Happy to have discovered this lovely place with healthy, tasty meatless meals, I will definitely come back to Sufood again.

Tea Break at Tarte by Cheryl Koh @ Shaw Centre [Revisit]

1 Scotts Road #02-12 Shaw Centre, Singapore 228208
Tel: 6235 3225

Being a lover of fruit tarts and Tarte's Cherry Tart (review here), I was glad to revisit again, to enjoy some pastries in the afternoon. Tarte by Cheryl Koh has their own shop now, located on level 2 of Shaw Centre.

Location is pretty tricky to find (walk all the way to the end); settings was pretty with fresh flowers, minimalistic with lovely window views. The tarts this afternoon included Dark Chocolate Tart, Passion Fruit Tart, Mango Tart, Lemon Meringue Tart, etc. Each one looked more tempting than the last. There were also some cakes, such as Dark Chocolate Cake, Fraisier and Gateau Opera.

There are also rows of Fruit Jam on sale, sporting an assortment of different flavours. These are not creations by Cheryl Koh, just a disclaimer.

Strawberries Tart (SGD$10.00) had a softer crust, buttery in taste. Fresh and sweet strawberries were sliced and lined the top of the cream-filled tart beautifully.

Mixed Berries Tart (SGD$10.00) had a harder crust, still buttery and lovely, filled with fluffy cream topped with a mound of fresh raspberries and blueberries.

Overall, another delightful teatime experience here, and my friend enjoyed them too. Congratulations Chef Koh on the shop and being named "Best Pastry Chef in Asia". I shall definitely be back for more tarts, checking out new seasonal flavours.

Dinner at Aloha Poké @ Citylink Mall

1 Raffles Link #B1-65 Citylink Mall, Singapore 039393
Tel: 6327 9349

I used to visit Aloha Poké @ Amoy Street (review here) very often, but ever since I stopped taking lunch, I have not been back for a while. I was glad to notice that more outlets have been opened since then, and so I was able to enjoy a poké dinner at Citylink Mall. The only drawback was that only the flagship outlet at Amoy Street is able to serve alcoholic drinks such as Beers.

Anyway, to recap, Aloha Poké serves healthy bowls of salad or rice,  raw fish cubes (salmon or tuna), topped with pineapple dices, lime wedge and scallions. On the order form, we also get to choose 2 complimentary protein items and 1 superfood item for our bowls.

The raw salmon and raw tuna cubes also come in flavours such as original, spicy, mayonnaise etc. I'd suggest you try the original flavours first, if this is your virgin experience having a poké bowl. Beverages served are Coconut Water or Cold Pressed Juice in various flavours; I chose a Coconut Water to go with my meal.

This time round, my poké bowl was made up of Salad as the base, additional Kale (add SGD$1.00), Spicy Salmon Poké, Edamame, Flying Fish Roe and Avocado. I did not opt for any salad dressing so it was a little dry, but other than that, the meal was very tasty and healthy.

Review on Plushopedic™ Memory Fluff Pillow by SleepWiz [Sponsored]

I was honoured to receive the Plushopedic™ Memory Fluff Pillow to try on, it is a popular pillow of choice - affordable,  comfortable, and offering many health benefits. Before that, I have reviewed by other fantastic products that SleepWiz carries, such as the ErgoLush Gel Infused Memory Foam and the Luxurie Eye Mask.

So how does this Plushopedic™ Memory Fluff Pillow work and why is it so special?

  • The Plushopedic™ pillow’s viscoelastic memory fluff cushions your head, cradles your neck, and disperses motion – like a hug from a giant teddy bear!
  • Special memory fluff filling sinks more in the centre where your head rests, while remaining comfortably supportive under your neck where you need it.
  • Adapts to back-sleepers, side-sleepers, and combination-sleepers.
  • Easily remove and store away filling to adjust pillow loft.
  • Can be fluffed to achieve your desired pillow loft and shape.
  • Super-breathable Coolmax® pillow protector allows airflow throughout the pillow, keeping you cool and fast asleep throughout the night.
  • Durable memory fluff maintains volume and support for years and years – unlike traditional fiber fillings – and even re-fluffs itself!

So many benefits, and yes, a luxury pillow that hugs my head regardless of whether I sleep on my back or side! Headaches be gone, comfort level maximum, and best of all it is an affordable SGD$84.00 only (plus free delivery islandwide!).

Lunch at Mahota Kitchen (Lavender / Tampines)

809 French Road, Level 3, Kitchener Complex, Singapore 200809
Tel: 6299 6809

2 Tampines Central 5, #01-11, Century Square, Singapore 529509
Tel: 6260 8018

Mahota Kitchen is a stunning restaurant focusing on organic food items such as free range beef, and own-grown vegetables. They promise "value, variety and knowledge", and draws strongly on the belief that good food should be enjoyed in a communal setting. I fell in love with the spacious rustic, garden-themed diner.

Service is good - you are being greeted the moment you enter, and the crew attends to our requests efficiently. Besides the dining area, there's also the Mahota Market, TCM Clinic and Seminar Room. They also have another outlet at Century Square (Tampines), which I frequent as well.

Desserts are interesting, with items such as Vegan Black Forest Cake, Sweet Potato Cake, Salted Caramel Jelly Cake and Earl Grey Chocolate Mousse Cake, etc.

My Matcha Latte was unsweetened, enabling me to enjoy the pure aroma of green tea froth, a refreshing change from those cloying, too-milky ones that most cafes usually serve.

They have a variety of Tea served in pots as well. I like the quaint little black teapot they use, looking so raw and yet exotic.

They also have interesting blended juices and organic wine selection to choose from.

Starters comprised Honey Truffle Mixed Sweet Potato Fries (SGD$8.00). Crispy and sweet, making for good light bites.

The Baked Cauliflower with Parmigiano (SGD$6.00) were very good to eat, especially when paired with a good tea or glass of White Wine.

Crispy Milk Baby Octopus with Tartar Sauce (SGD$8.00) had a palatable charm of its own, melting on the tongue deliciously.

We also enjoyed the Crispy Mixed Mushroom in Bamboo Charcoal Powder (SGD$6.00), giving the earthy notes some hints of smokiness.

Kale Roasted Organic Lacto Chicken Salad (SGD$16.00) was a delicious and healthy dish made up of quail eggs, cherry tomatoes, avocado, sliced orange, Cumin organic quinoa corn, and roasted walnuts with pommery salad dressing.

Then we had the Aglio Olio Pasta with Grilled Miso Octopus (SGD$26.00); one could choose between handmade spinach tagliatelle or handmade pumpkin linguine. Palatable pasta dish bursting forth with flavours.

Another dish to be savoured was Red Wine Braised Beef Cheeks (SGD$19.00), served on a bed of truffle mashed potato and seasonal vegetables.

Then there was my long-craved Garlic Duck Leg Confit with Pineapple Sauce (SGD$18.00). Crackling exterior with tender flesh.

Last but not least, I really dug the Creamy Risotto with Grilled Scallops. Springy scallops redolent of the briny sea, creamy rice infused with parmigiano cheese, and mixed with sweet corn as well as mushrooms.

Dessert also includes the delicious and healthy Sweet Potato Cake, Yogurt Cake, etc.

Not hard to see why I keep coming back to Mahota Kitchen for their healthy, scrumptious food items, can you?
