[Invited Tasting] Buffet Dinner at Element Restaurant @ Amara Hotel

165 Tanjong Pagar, Level 1, Singapore 088539
Tel: 6879 2607
Price: SGD$65.00 (lunch / dinner)

Element Restaurant at Amara Hotel houses an international buffet concept inside and Spanish bar concept on the outside (Element on the Street); an multicultural dining paradise to satiate cravings of all nature.

Decor of the restaurant is sleek sophistication with lots of mirrors adding depth to rooms. Service was not only impeccable but caring as well, with crew paying attention to even the slightest details so that diners were well taken care of.

Cuisine is largely international and multinational. One of the talented culinary crew is Samuel Quan - the youngest in the Singapore National Culinary Team that won 2   gold medals during Culinary Olympics (yes, there is such a thing).

The first station when one enters the front, is the Japanese live station where a chef slices fresh Sashimi for us. There is also an assortment of Sushi for the taking.

Following that, a station with Chicken with Black Fungus dish and very silky Tofu with seafood; making for great starters as well.

Next station was made up of Live Seafood such as Boston Lobster, Alaskan King Crab, Spanner Crab, Cooked Mussels, White Clams, and Fresh Oysters. Needless to say, this was one of our most favorite stations.

The counter after that offered Fruits and Desserts; I delighted in the 5 types of Cheeses, Chocolate Banana Cake, Peach Crumble, rich mini Chocolate Tarts and aromatic Cempedek Creme Brulee. The latter is one of their unique signatures.

Moving on, a Roast Station adjourned to the Ramen counter, the latter serving up springy Ramen noodles in flavorful broth.

Pineapple Rice was very tasty and generous in ingredients; whereas the Lotus Root Soup was palatable- exactly like how a good traditional Cantonese styled soup should be.

Finally, the area lined with what's mainly local European fusion fare such as Dimsum, Truffle Mashed Potato, Chicken Coq au Vin and Crayfish in Chilli Crab Sauce. I enjoyed the latter 2 dishes as well.

If you are early, drop by for Happy Hours Drinks before your hunger pangs kick in. Selected Spirits, Housepour Wines and Beers are priced at a mere SGD$10.00 till 8.00pm so yes, work up a thirst before your feast.

Thank you Lindy and Jesslyn of Amara Hotel for hosting us; and Ivanteh for the invite.  We definitely enjoyed ourselves tremendously and would return for more delicacies!

Recently I was thrilled to be invited to the opening ceremony of Kimoto Gastro Bar at The Sail Condo. It is a cosy sake bar serving Japanese food and lots of sake (Japanese rice wine) of course

This is the owner Adrian's first outlet. He started out distributing sake to different restaurants and retailers, and was finally able to open his own restaurant with some partners.

We mainly had light bites and finger food as the main gist were the Asahi Beers and Sake drinks. There is a sake menu here so you can imagine how many types you can choose from.

We enjoyed some Ebi Tempura (SGD$9.00 for 3 / SGD$15.00 for 5), Deep-fried Squid (SGD$15.00), Maldon Sea Salt Edamame (SGD$4.00) and Kushiyaki Omakase (SGD$22.00) for 6 sticks of grilled foodstuff.

If you are nearby in the vicinity or love sake, do pop by here to get your fixes.

Congratulations on your opening Adrian and Kimoto Gastro Bar - may business flourish!

Opening Ceremony of Le Hair Spa @ Bukit Timah

I had enjoyed the soothing massages at Le Spa (review here), therefore when I was invited to the opening ceremony of Le Hair Spa, I knew I must visit.

The spacious two-storey hair spa parlour far exceeded my expectations, with excellent service, an elegant curving staircase, chandelier lamps and as many as 8 private rooms.

The private rooms are located on level 2, done up in cream tones and spacious enough for an armchair, 3 stools, a stand for haircare tools and our drinks. At the far end there is a room done in more sophisticated shades of oak, meant for 2 persons so it's perfect for couples or friends to enjoy hair spa treatments in private.

The staff was extremely friendly throughout the one-hour Hair Spa session (worth SGD$50.00), using quality salon grade haircare products by L'oreal Professional while explaining the uses of each product. Queenie attended to me and she was excellent- considerate and knowledgeable. The hair spa included methodological head massage, wash and conditioning- after which my head felt lighter and mood was much relaxed.

On level 1 are the common areas for haircut, hair wash etc, set up to exude understated elegance.   The only drawback on that day was the music which I thought was too "Chinese" (not pop or familiar oldies, but more like folks music), contrasting with the soothing ambience the service seeks to provide.

Food- there was wholesome food for the opening! We enjoyed the breaded shrimps, sea cucumber, curry chicken etc.

Finally, a doorgift of L'oreal Professional Serioxyl Serum for us just being there. Thank you Le Hair Spa for the royalty treatment and Rachel for the invite! Congratulations again on your opening and may business bloom!
