Review of Guerlain Lingerie De Peau Nude Powder Foundation

I have never tried Guerlain products before I attended the Guerlain event at Tangs Orchard, Singapore. Read about the event here. After watching the demonstration, getting acquainted with Jose Luis Yuve and trying on a few products, I purchased the Lingerie De Peau Nude Powder Foundation as well as the Meteorites Light Diffusing Perfecting Primer (read review here).

The compact itself looks classy - in a dark glossy case with the gold Guerlain logo printed proudly at the front. This product combines the powdery melt-away feel of foundation along with the satin creaminess of a concealer, supposed to give a great finish. This compact comes with 10g / 35 ounce of powder foundation, and cost SGD$98.00. I got mine is shade 01, Pale Beige.

Its secret hyaluronic acid encapsulated into the Bio-Fusion micro-mesh,  continuously captures and retains water on the skin surface, thus retaining moisture to give face a comfortable feel as well as matte, plump, flawless finish the entire day. The compact comes with a soft sponge and very fine, smooth powder that goes onto the face like silk.

It does even out the complexion, feel comfortable on the skin without feeling choked or too heavy, provides medium-to-high coverage, as well as retain moisture for continual smoothness.  It looks natural enough, and provides a light SPF 20 coverage from the sun's rays.

Review on Guerlain's Meteorites Perles Perfecting Primer

At the Guerlain's event at Orchard Tangs last week, I was busy making the acquaintance of Jose Luis Yuve, stealing some skills from him whilst we did the dramatic eyes up for me. I returned to the makeup booth to see two of my girlfriends glowing literally, and looking pleased to be basking in the beautiful transformation.

That was when *Charmaine eagerly urged me to try the Guerlain Meteorites Perles Light Diffusing Perfecting Primer. Immediately I was skeptical, and told her that I was going to go and buy the minerals primer I had been using before. I already knew what I wanted to buy that night, and it didn't include this makeup primer for sure.

Anyway, eventually, I was still persuaded to give this darling a try. Why not? Since it was free to try anyway! It is a pearl elixir literally, filled with tiny sparkling pearls in a thick clear serum / liquid.

The consultant then spritzed a drop onto her hand and applied for me - over my makeup. She explained that this primer can be used before applying foundation and also after - to give a glowing effect. I could see immediately that my skin appeared smoother, softer and there was a dewy radiance to it, without the shine of oil. It was there and then I was sold, and decided to buy a bottle of this 30ml product at SGD$94.00.

It is really pretty, and I enjoy seeing the tiny pearls swirling around in the thick clear gel. Just press on the pump of the primer, and just a pearl drop size of this precious stuff would do. Apply over face - there is a soothing and cooling effect immediately. I might have imagined it - but I felt my skin tightening - not the drying kind, but like, becoming more firm?

The skin became more silky smooth, ready to accept foundation now. This was taken this morning right after I applied on a thin layer of foundation and loose powder - note the smoothness and velvety glow, giving linear illusion to the contours. My complexion was immediately brightened and shone with a healthy sheen that was almost like a facial halo! I love the Meteorites Perles Light Diffusing Perfecting Primer!

Compare the difference in this photo, in which I was using other primers - skin was clear, but no glow. It was not luminous at all, and even looked somewhat dull close up.

With Guerlain's Meteorites Perles Primer, my makeup stayed intact for almost the entire day, and I continued to shine well wherever I went. Now I finally understand the full allure of Guerlain's signature pearls and sparkles.

Guerlain Beauty Event at Tangs Orchard

310 Orchard Road #level 1 Tangs Orchard, Singapore 238864
Tel: 6733 3720

Guerlain (pronounced as "ge-larn") is having an event again! Anyway, this time I decided to attend, and there would be three of my friends there anyway - two new, one being *Charmaine. So, the event started at 7pm at Tangs Orchard, right at the Guerlain counter.

The place was all set up, with a makeover stand in the middle, and the staff were all looking especially good. They were testing the mike while we registered ourselves.

There were glasses of Champagne and juices as promised, as well as trays of canapes such as ham-mayo sandwiches, chocolate cakes, mini fruit tarts and mini quiches etc.

While sipping the drinks over mingling sessions, we were also treated to free sessions of express Manicure, as promised - and there were 3 hues to choose from, all festive shades in red and gold. Most of us chose the dark red - using Guerlain nail polish, of course.

There was also a Caricature artist at one station, helping all of us sketch adorable caricatures - I didn't get to do it because I was busy with other stuff and did not join the long queue.

Jose Luis Yuve (international makeup artist) flew in from France to do a demonstration on a model right in the middle of the event, transforming her from a natural beauty into a bewitching glamour queen in less than 30 minutes.

So, after the makeover demonstration, we wasted no time experimenting with the products ourselves or by the various makeup staff around. Jose the man was mingling around, adding a touch or two here / there to transform us further.

This was him doing his rounds and working his magic on one of the participants. It was amazing what a sweep or two of pearl powder / serum could do to enhance one's skin and features so greatly.

Jose also did a full eyes makeover for me using their eyeshadow palette. The effect was very ....dramatic - like, vamp meets glamour queen, and I loved them all. The lipstick (limited festive shade #327) was so beautiful yet creamy smooth instead of dry.

Needless to say, there were some loots besides the door gift after the event. It was a fun and enriching event - lovely catching up with friends, discovery of great products, and making the acquaintance of Jose Luis Yuve himself.

Thank you, Guerlain!
