Lunch at O'Coffee Club @ Changi Airport Terminal 3 (Revisit)

65 Airport Boulevard, Level 2, Changi Airport Terminal 3, Singapore 819663
Tel: 6585 6369

Recently I was part of the Neuro-Awareness Road show, so I was based at Changi Airport Terminal 3 for 2 days. Where else did I go for my lunch if not my favourite O'Coffee Club?  The decor has also changed - an open concept now with lots of plants, almost botanical-like. Menus have been revamped a little, you can check review here.

Anyway I had their 3-Egg Omelet (SGD$8.90) with Ham & Cheese. One could choose that, or Mushroom & Chicken. The Omelet came with a plain salad and tasted pretty good - the only issue was that I wish they had written there that the Omelet contains onions, as not everyone takes it.

I paired the above with a hot Peppermint Tea (SGD$4.80), with was a pretty good pairing actually, and the minty flavour helped to take away some of the onion taste in my mouth.

The next day, I had one of my favourites all these years - Classic Caesar Salad in Cheese Basket (SGD$14.90), with Smoked Salmon. One could choose Chicken if they don't like Salmon. Ingredients were fresh and the crispy cheese cheese basket was just so good! I could eat this type of salad every day!

I paired this with a glass of Red Wine (SGD$11.00), the only choice available here was the Shiraz Cabernet. I'm not sure why they scrapped my favourite Blackforest Blend from the menu if they could still serve alcoholic drinks.

Anyway overall, not bad dining experience here again. The afternoon crew were really nice - coming around to top up water and asked if everything was good.

Brunch at On The Table Cafe @ Pasir Panjang

118 Pasir Panjang Road, Singapore 118541
Tel: 6750 4740

On The Table is the sister cafe of Lola's Cafe (review here), providing a spacious place at a shophouse area, serving hearty food by a dedicated service crew. They serve a variety of brunch items, waffles, cakes and hand-crafted coffee.

We started with Crispy Honey Wings (SGD$10.00) - battered fried chicken wings with honey and spices. This was good - crispy with sweet notes.

Smoked Pulled Pork Carbonara (SGD$16.00) - a moist mix of 6-hours smoked barbecued pulled pork, linguine, garlic, cherry tomatoes, 63° egg, parmesan cheese and cream. We thought that the addition of pulled pork kind of overwhelmed the dish, and it was a little sweet for our liking.

The Smoked Salmon and Avocado Eggs Benedict (SGD$16.00) comprised of crispy brioche toast, smoked salmon, avocado purée, poached eggs, hollandaise, mesclun salad with lemon dressing - a pretty decent brunch with all the delicious essentials.

Desserts-wise, we had Waffles with 2 scoops of Ice-Cream (SGD$10.00) - the waffles was crispy on the edge and fluffy on the interior. One of the ice-cream flavours was Earl Grey, and we loved its aromatic tea taste.

Raspberry Lemoncurd Loaf Cake (SGD$5.00) was a little coarse and dry; but the raspberry flavour with its citrusy centre, was pretty engaging.

Final dessert shared was Salted Caramel Popcorn Cake (SGD$7.00), a lovely and creamy cake with saltish notes blended with the sweetness, adding delicious bites by the popcorn sitting on top.

For drinks, there were Piccolo (SGD$5.00), Latte (SGD$5.50) and I had a Lindemans' Peach Beer. My friends enjoyed their coffees.

Overall dining experience was fun, but felt food could be better.

Dinner at Wild Honey Restaurant @ Mandarin Gallery [Revisit]

333A Orchard Road #03-01 / 02 Mandarin Gallery, Singapore 238897
Tel: 6235 3900

Good places are worth visiting, and re-visiting repeatedly, and Wild Honey Singapore is one such restaurant for me. Adopting the "breakfast is the most important meal of the day"  philosophy, Wild Honey serves up a wide range of breakfast items all day long, whether you want a Mediterranean-style breakfast, typical English breakfast, exotic Scandinavian breakfast etc- they have it all covered. You can also check out my review on past visits here and here.

When my friend mentioned she felt like a good salmon and rosti, Wild Honey came to mind immediately, and that was how 4 of us ended up holding our gathering dinner at Wild Honey @ Mandarin Gallery. The place underwent a revamp recently, so decor has changed a bit, with a long bar counter etc. Their food items on the menu have also been extended by a long list, but 4 of us skipped right through the nitty-gritty details to focus on signature brunches here.

The Norwegian Breakfast (SGD$28.00) blew our minds with its fresh, springy smoked salmon coiled around Hollandaise sauce and salmon pearls, sitting atop sweet, grilled asparagus spears, poached eggs, avocado and crispy wholewheat brioche.

Next, the Portobello Road Breakfast (SGD$24.00), bringing us back to earth with aromatic mushrooms, poached eggs, wilted spinach, onion and bell peppers confit, Hollandaise sauce, cushioned by crispy wholewheat brioche. Definitely a burst of flavours with this one!

Following that, we tried the Greek Breakfast (SGD$24.00), an exotic creation of open-face Omelette baked with fragrant lamb moussaka, bechamel, Keflograviera cheese, shaved red onion, fried Japanese eggplant & parsley; grilled flat bread was served on the side. Hearty and rich, this one transported us to places with azure blue skies, pristine white houses and sparkling turqoise seas.

Finally, my something I must have here - Scandinavian Breakfast (SGD$33.00) - succulent slab of fresh salmon grilled beautifully, nestling upon a bed of sweet asparagus spears and crackling potato rosti. I am glad that the quality standard of this dish has remained consistent over the years.

Washed my delectable meal down with a glass of Red Wine, of course. Looking forward to returning to Wild Honey for awesome food again.

Brunch at Laurent's Cafe @ Robinson The Heeren

260 Orchard Road #B1-02C, Robinson The Heeren, Singapore 238855
Tel: 6235 2340

What's below? Treasure! So we discovered Laurent's Cafe (by world-renowed chocolatier Laurent Bernard) at basement level of Robinson The Heeren, specialising in French cuisine and of course, desserts such as cakes and tarts.

Setting is open-concept adorned with pretty furniture pieces and faux flowers. Menu items comprise mainly of brunch items, pastas and a good range of hot chocolate flavours; there's also wine and champagne if one desires. Service was very slow and ordering is done over the counter.

We started with a huge slice of Blackforest Cake (SGD$10.00) while waiting for our mains. The cream-layered cake was tasty but not too sweet - tiers of chocolate sponge studded with sour cherries.

Ravioles (SGD$19.00) was unique - not your typical pocketed pasta pieces stuffed with cheese. This was a fluffy light baked dish, piping hot and filled with Comte cheese from Dauphine, France. On the side was some salad for a healthy touch; this dish was well-received for its scrumptiousness.

Carbonara (SGD$19.00) - creamy pasta with bacon bits and topped with a single egg yolk.

From the Brunch segment, the Farmers Breakfast (SGD$28.00) was a huge, hearty platter with organic scrambled eggs, roasted French potatoes cooked in duck fats, tomatoes, baked bacon and toasted brioche with original Toulouse sausage.

Drinks-wise, Cappuccino (SGD$6.50) exuded bittersweet aroma and was served in gorgeous rustic-looking ware.

What won my heart was the Rum and Raisin Hot Chocolate (SGD$9.50) - rich hot chocolate with a dense blend of rum, sweet raisins and cream, served in a vintage metallic mug. Bless my heart, exploding with pleasure at the deliciousness of this concoction.

Overall, we enjoyed the dining experience here at Laurent's Cafe (we were here for 4 hours on Labour Day holiday, what do you think?), and wil revisit to try more of the items, cakes especially.

Brunch at Fartz Tart Cafe @ Singapore Expo [Revisit]

1 Expo Drive, #02-04 Max-Atria Foyer 1, Singapore 486150
Tel: 6493 2901

Having revisited Fart Tartz Cafe numerous times (review here) and enjoying their food and desserts, I decided to suggest this venue for our Christmas meetup.

Since my last visit, Fart Tartz Cafe has not only increased their menu offerings to include warm pasta in jars, they also have some Flat Bread Burgers. Better yet, they now have a new branch at South Bridge Road (Fook Hai Building), which is definitely more accessible for its central location.

We started with drinks and I chose an Iced Moroccan Mint Tea (SGD$5.50) - light  cooling and refreshing. The girls also enjoyed their Cappuccinos and Iced Coffees as well.

Foodwise, we shared the Mentai Takoyaki (SGD$8.90) - tasty Japanese octopus balls with homemade mentaiko sauce, seaweed strips and scallions.

For mains, all of us incidentally had the Pasta Asciutta, served in huge jars.

Herby Vongolia (SGD$14.90) - sauteed clams linguine pasta dish done aglio olio style, with basilico-infused olive and butter oil, sliced garlic, fresh basil, grinded peppercorn and bell pepper. A delicious and spicy dish but the "herby" part in the name left us baffled.

Lemony Garlic Prawn (SGD$14.90) comprised linguine tossed in fresh garlic and lemon juice, fresh springy de-shelled prawns, parmesan cheese, fresh crushed English parsley, crushed red pepper, chopped onions, unsalted butter and olive oil seasoning. This was undoubtedly a palatable dish.

The Teriyaki Chix Spaghettini (SGD$12.90) was made up of springy spaghettini pasta, tender chicken cubes with Japanese teriyaki sauce, fresh garlic, onions and parsley.

I opted for my usual favorite here, the Chilled Prawn Angel's Hair Pasta (SGD$11.90), a signature dish here composed of chilled capellini pasta with fresh bouncy de-shelled prawns and scallops, tossed in their special flavorful housemade sauce, olive oil, sesame, parsley, Japanese cucumber slices, sea salt and shredded seaweed. Definitely delightful and delectable dish; highly recommended.

For desserts, we shared a few jarred-in, non-bake Tiramisu flavours (SGD$6.80 each) and flowerpot "Mud Tart" desserts (SGD$5.50 each); their flavours change frequently so you never know what you'll get anyday :)

On this day, most of the flavours contained cheese, and came in pretty Christmas decor.
We had the Original Tiramisu, Earl Grey Tiramisu, Cheese Nutella Mud Tart and Oreo Cheese Mud Tart. The flavours were interesting but I enjoyed the previous non-cheese versions better.

Overall, Fart Tartz Cafe is a comfortable, serene and lovely place to hang out at; paired with palatable food and pretty desserts. I shall check their new outlet out as well.
