Lunch at Tim Ho Wan Restaurant @ Aperia Mall, Lavendar [Revisit]

12 Kallang Avenue #01-01 Aperia Mall, Singapore 339511

Recently we returned to Tim Ho Wan Restaurant @ Aperia, because a colleague wanted to eat dimsum. So far, my dining experience at their Aperia Mall (review here and there) and Plaza Singapura (review here) outlets have been pretty satisfying.

The best thing about the Aperia outlet is that it is more spacious, less cramped and there's usually little to no queue. Service is pretty efficient and polite.

We started with the signature (and pretty mandatory) Baked BBQ Pork Buns (SGD$5.80) - love the crusty textured exterior of these crispy buns, and the sweet, dark minced BBQ pork within. We had 2 servings of these buns.

Next, we had the Pork and Shrimp Siew Mai (SGD4.80) - minced meat dumplings with the sheerest wanton skin and springy texture.

Following that, Har Gao Prawn Dumplings (SGD5.30) - crystal skin embracing fresh, succulent shrimps within, served piping hot and utterly delicious.

The Chilli Crab Dumplings (SGD$5.50) were definitely a local-inspired creation, made up of crackling slivers of deep-fried flour skin enveloping sweet yam, stuffed with mildly spicy chilli crab fillings within. This was surely a delicacy and my favourite of the lot.

We also tried the Braised Chicken Feet in Abalone Sauce (SGD$5.50) - incredibly flavourful sauce, infusing the tender chicken feet and sheets of beancurd skin (tau kee) bathing in them. It was tempting to order another serving of this.

Then there was Pork Congee with Century Egg and Salted Egg (SGD$5.00) - steaming hot, of course - and sumptuous Cantonese-style congee that filled the palate with egg-citement with every bite.

The Spicy Prawn Paste Char Siew Noodles (SGD$6.00) had a pretty good springy texture, and generous pieces of char siew; however we felt that the taste could've been more distinctive.

Finally, another all-time favourite of mine, the Tonic Medlar & Osmanthus Cake (SGD3.50) - cold jelly cubes stuffed with wolfberries and osmanthus petals, exuding their fragrance and sweetness in this delightful dessert, summing up the meal ever so perfectly.

Overall, it was a hearty lunch with good food, good service and excellent company.
