Lunch at Blue Lotus Restaurant @ Tanjong Pagar

5 Wallich Street, #01-13, Tanjong Pagar Centre, Singapore 078883

Blue Lotus Chinese Eating House serves quintessential Chinese delicacies with a temporary twist. Traditional Chinese dishes are given a creative spin without going down the fusion route.

I like the sultry retro concep of their deco, with colorful lanterns and all. Service at Tanjong  Pagar branch was average; perhaps because we visited during busy lunch hour. We had the private room where we could also sing karaoke,  very cool!

They had good set lunches  ranging from SGD$18.00 to SGD$30.00 so I tried that.
Along with a refreshing Iced Lychee Tea (SGD$6.00) to quench my thirst.

My starter was a simple but zesty (and tasty) Salad.

The Claypot Mapo Beancurd with Onsen Egg (SGD$20.00) was utterly delicious - tangy flavours and smooth texture. This dish was served with a bowl of rice but I declined mine.

The Fermented Tofu Barley Risotto, Pan Seared Barramundi (SGD$28.00) was also very palatable- milky taste of the fish paired with bouncy-textured barley risotto. The portion was just nice as well.

Another remarkable mains was the Wok Fried Australian Angus Beef Tenderloin with Peppercorn (SGD$38.00); cubes of succulent and juicy beef and rice, served in a hot stone pot. Talk about sizzling good!

We also ordered some extra sides for sharing. One of them is the Szechuan-style "La Zi" Chicken (SGD$12.00), bursting with tangy tantalisation.

Admittedly, I was very addicted to the Crispy Salted Egg Salmon Skin (SGD$14.00) - flavourful, crackling good, with the zest of lime.

For desserts, we enjoyed cooling cups of Chilled Aloe Vera and Lemongrass Gelo with Lime Sorbet (SGD$9.00).

And of course, the must-try Durian Creme Brulee (SGD$14.00), using creamy and rich D24 quality durians for that sweet and aromatic flavour.

Blue Lotus Chinese Restaurant was certainly delightful to dine at. I would love to visit their Sentosa Cove outlet someday because I am sure the ambience would be fantastic by the marina.
