Fancy a romantic garden dining experience under the skies, watching the sunset blossom into starlot fantasy, yet continue to be sheltered from the sun, falling leaves and bugs?
Summerhouse is the place to go to. More specifically, Summerhouse's geodesic dome dining is the place to be at. Besides this beautiful dining concept, the restaurant uses herbs and garnishes from its own gardens, providing a nutritious and healthy menu for diners.
Since we could not travel out to celebrate our wedding anniversary this year, we figured blowing S$400++ on a celebratory meal was well worth it (note that there's a fixed menu for dome dining).
Excellent service by the crew was the first thing that hit us, as we were ushered into our dome, set up elegantly. A bottle of Merlot and bread were served while we went around the stunning settings taking photos.
The 8-course dinner kickstarted with Grilled Prawns, glazed and wrapped in Lardo. Taste was excellent but it have been perfect if the prawns were fresher.
Then there was Chia Seed Cracker with Australian Avocado (and a plethora of other stuff such as sous vide egg yolk, chive, ikura and truffle pecorino. Healthy ingredients yet utterly enjoyable.
Moroccan Eggplant with Goat Cheese (and leek ash, coriander and croutons) was next - a dish we found palatable, surprisingly. Thats because I am usually not a fan of goat cheese. This was exceptionally well-played.
Following that, the Fresh Mud Crab and Shallot Omelet graced our tongues, painting them a creamy lusciousness.
My main course was the Red Snapper with charred artichoke, capers, black olives and vine ripe cherry tomatoes. Loved the springy texture of the fish indicating its freshness. The colorful presentation was lovely, too.
My hubby's choice of mains was the 100 Hour Mayura Wagyu Brisket - a tender slab of red meat thoughtfully cut up into pieces , served with kale, crispy arugula and inka grilled brocoolini.
Our shared side dish was Smoked Potato Puree with grilled abalone mushroom, beef stock, parsley emulsion and toasted pine nuts.
Finally, dessert wrapping up the scrumptious meal - Balinese Chocolate Ice Cream with vanilla custard and hazelnut cookie base.
Overall dining experience here was lovely - interesting experience, stunning settings, innovative healthy dishes and good service. I certainly do not mind returning here again.
