I've lost you,
In the hopes that you'll be mine;
In the dreams that harrowed,
In the many events of my life,
I've all but you.
And it singes,
This loss,
Pierces like a knife,
Burns like raw saline,
Agony, unadulterated and pure,
Numbed by vices.
You've lost me,
In the nights we've never shared,
In the mysteries unsolved,
In the sails that go with the winds,
You've lost me.
And it caresses,
This loss,
Somehow soothes the wounds,
Empties out the soul,
Breathelessness,
Numbed by more pain.
