After my first visit to Auld Alliance (review here), I found myself immensely drawn to this sophisticated whiskey bar, and returning at least twice.
I brought the Bestie and her hubby there recently when they visited Singapore, once I found out that they enjoy Whiskey, have yet to visit a Whiskey bar, and this is one of the few Whiskey bars in Southeast Asia itself.
Owned by a French gentleman who travels the world to collect different kinds of Whiskey, the collection is impressive as ever. We pawed through the thick menu filled with many, many varieties of Whiskey and a bit of other drinks (cocktails, wine, champagne and mocktails), while the personable service crew patiently explained and made recommendations.
The Irish Tea Party Cocktail (SGD$18.00), an infusion of Irish Whiskey and green tea etc. I personally thought this was akin to drinking whiskey with green tea mixer, nothing mind-blowing.
Charlotte Absinthe (SGD$20.00) came in a funnel filter and fruity notes. A light minty flavour ensued, and the texture was creamy and smooth.
The Taste of Scotland 2 tasting set comprises of 4 types of Scottish Whiskey served in pretty tulip glasses - Glenmorangie, Balvenie, Glenorach and Lagavulin. These smokey, aged Whiskies are 18 years old, 21 years old, 18 years old and 16 years old respectively.
Then the Japanese Whiskies tasting set consists of 4 smooth samplers served in dainty tulip glasses as well - Suntory Hibiki Harmony, Yamazaki's Distiller Reserve, Nikka Coffey Grain and Yoichi Nas. A small black card bears the names and percentage of the whiskey, and (if applicable), the age.
Overall, we all enjoyed this lounge tremendously, and agree that the service is impeccable. Ambience makes it conducive for business discussions or unwinding, one could easily sink into the buttery leather couches falling under the spell of soothing blues music.
