Having visited this lovely artisanal Japanese Cafe incorporating French ingredients (the Bugis outlet) a couple of times, I decided to recommend the Westgate outlet for my catching up with *Pris. Review on previous visits at Bugis outlet can be found here.
Nice decor, in fact the same colorful concept as its sister outlet, I find the staff at Westgate friendlier. Here, they also have pretty booths for those who prefer a little privacy.
*Pris took the Miam Miam Spaghetti (SGD$16.80) which has been reviewed in both my previous entries (reviews here) - tasty pasta despite its simple ingredients of tomatoes, bacons, egg and mushrooms.
I opted for Riz Noir Squid Ink Rice (SGD$16.50) which came in a tiny saucepan and Miam Miam's signature souffle egg. Despite it being a tiny pot, portion was actually substantial and generous with squids, prawns and clams. I loved the grainy rice and best of all, robust umami flavour. Squid ink was murky but not overwhelming, but the seafood taste was strong - I believe there is infusion of seafood broth.
Finally, dessert! Their desserts require 15 minutes baking time by the way so you might want to have them start preparing before you finish your mains. We had Caramelised Banana Pancake (SGD$13.80), a warm and fluffy pancake with blueberries and pieces of caramelised bananas, topped with vanilla ice-cream. The caramelised bananas were not too sweet and we enjoyed our delicious dessert very much.
