Lunch at Roost Chicken Rice Restaurant @ Centrepoint

176 Orchard Road #B1-17 / 18 / 19 The Centrepoint, Singapore 238843

Roost Chicken Rice Specialty Shop is a new concept at The Centrepoint serving delicious chicken rice dishes in many innovative styles. After seeing reviews of a couple of interesting dishes, I decided to head there for lunch with some overseas friends.

The restaurant is located at basement of Centrepoint Shopping Centre, an oval-shaped, open concept and simple design. Service was professional and efficient. Menu consisted of many chicken dishes such as chicken rice, chicken laksa, bamboo chicken etc, as well as Ipoh Kuey Teow and Singapore White Bee Hoon. There were also Thai dishes such as Tom Yum Fried Rice and Tom Yum Soup.

We started with Chicken Sushi (SGD$4.90), which with tender slices of soya chicken meat on rectangles of chicken rice and garnished with spring onion and glazed with a small dash of teriyaki sauce. The chicken rice sushi was delicious with strong, sure flavours of a good chicken rice dish. It was a pretty refreshing way of eating a traditional local favorite.

Next, Crispy Chicken Rice Balls (SGD$4.90) - golden chicken rice balls coated with breadcrumbs and deep-fried. Flavour was a little bland for this appetizer, but dipping into their homemade chilli dip helped.

Yin Yang Chicken Rice (SGD$8.80) giving us the best of both worlds - aromatic chicken rice served with succulent poached chicken and soya sauce chicken.

Chicken Laksa (SGD$7.90) - a bowl of very satisfying, delicious shrimp-based coconut curry broth with poached chicken and rice noodles.

For drinks, we had Silky Barley (SGD$2.90), Floral Tea with Honey (SGD$2.90) and Sparkling Longan Ribena (SGD$3.50) - the latter was refreshing and soothing.
