Somehow the topic of blackforest cake brought us to re-visit Stuttgart Blackforest Boutique S-cafe again. I always enjoy returning here, and the service seems to get better each time. Read previous reviews here and here.
Ambience was as pretty as ever, the familiar cuckoo clocks, giant water wheel and nutcrackers greeting us when we entered. We chose a table with red-white checked tablecloth this time round.
Started with Garlic Bread (SGD$5.00), a basket of 4. The toasted baguette slices were very crispy, and robust of garlic herb aroma, making it very, very palatable and appetite-whetting.
Pork Schnitzel (SGD$22.80) - 2 thick, golden-brown breaded pork fillet that were crackling and flavorful, served with mashed potato.
Then there was Lentil with Spatzel and Sausage (SGD$16.80) consisted of traditional lentil stewed in beef broth, served with spatzle and tender smoked beef sausage.
Pork Knuckle (SGD$19.50) for personal portion is very thoughtful, and as tasty as ever. Think crackling skin, succulent moistened meat and sourish sauerkraut.
Maultaschen Dumplings (SGD$16.80) - Swabian beef meat pockets served with sauteed onion in the most delicious clear broth. The beef was juicy and tasty, and the meat pockets melted in the mouth like a dream.
Dessert was, of course, Blackforest Cake (SGD$14.00) - rich chocolate sponge with Kirsch and stuffed with Brandy-soaked cherries between layers of cream. Undeniably good and alcohol was strong again, a piece of heaven literally.
Some German Engel Fruchte Tea (SGD$6.00) aka fruit tea, and draft beer (SGD$11.00 for glass / SGD$14.00 for pint), accompanied the meal. We had Engel Pils (pale ale), Engel Hefe Weizen (sweet) and Engel Dunkel (darker, bittersweet).
It was my friend's birthday so they put a candle and wrote "Happy Birthday" in chocolate for him. Thank you Stuttgart once more, for a wonderful dining experience.
