Poem: Revenge

Your selfishness shone through the dark,
Rhyming with your name,
Like the bane of your vain existence.
All the rules are set by you alone,
Religion is a mere excuse,
When things do not turn in your favor.

I've been faithful in my duty,
As your friend and confidante,
But that was to the you I thought I knew.
Tonight was an excellent performance,
My sobriety was the best pairing,
To this dish of selfish desire,

Plated with your carefully conceived lies,
But you forgot who I am, my dear,
And I will eat it all up, every drop.
I will swallow it all without a word,
But know that I'd be sharpening my knife,
For revenge is a dish best served cold.
