Poem: In and Out

Darling,
I thought we could
Trap ourselves in a cage,
And work ourselves into a rage,
Over candlelight meals and love.

But then you want out
You want to escape from the claws
That used to dig into your back
Over pleasure,
That felt just like yesterday.

And then you want in,
Only when you feel lonely -
Left on the dark streets at night;
So you want in
To my abode, my warmth, my world.

Darling,
I knew it should
Never have turned out this way-
But I have to lock you in forever,
Or cast you aside and see you never...
