Giovanni L.is an award-winning gelato / ice-cream parlour that was originated from Germany, and has been brought into Singapore, so that we get to enjoy delicious gelato that comes in many exotic flavours. I also dug the gold and silver cone that is their signature emblem, as well as the cherub statues perching on top of the gold-lit signboard.
As it was an ice-cream / gelato parlour, it was to be alfresco seating, a casual dessert-dining concept, where gold tables added a touch of class to the casual settings.
This was a media invite attended by representatives from Openrice Singapore as well as many other familiar food bloggers / reviewers whom I've had the pleasure of meeting at other events.
The were many flavours to choose from - whether you prefer something creamy, conventional, fruity or alcoholic. Classic flavours start from SGD$4.90 per scoop, and the Premium flavours cost SGD$5.90 onwards for a scoop.
Through tasting and sharing, I managed to discover the taste of many flavours here. The Spiced Iced Tea was exotic, piquant with "chai" natural aroma. Forever Rocher was creamy chocolate in gelato form. Mango was redolent with distinctive fragrant of the tropical fruit itself. The Peanut Butter was smooth and creamy as well, luxuriously bold in its flavour.
The Sicilian Pistachio was luscious with pistachio aroma. Lemon was citrusy in a refreshing manner. The Blueberry flavour was tarty amongst its sweetness, bringing out the natural flavour of the fruit gorgeously. Beet Root was a lovely flavour as well, somehow bearing strong notes of natural haw (a little sourish, hence) in its taste.

I loved the Classic Cone, consisting of Amarena gelato, Chocolate VIC gelato and Eggnog gelato - all three of my most favorite flavours tonight. I loved the creamy texture of the Amarena paired with zesty-ness amongst the sweetness, and of course I am a cherries fan. The Chocolate VIC comprised bittersweet notes of dark chocolate in this very rich flavour, my beloved elements all found in one scoop. And the Eggnog flavour reminds me of Christmas; the alcoholic taste here is distinctive without being overpowering.
Yes, one point to note - the gelato melts very fast. So, after choosing your desired flavours from the large array of selection, savour these delicacies ASAP before they become a puddle of ice-cream milkshake.
The Caramella Affogato (SGD$8.90) is a composition of crunchy pieces of caramel, crispy popcorn, vanilla gelato and espresso shot - adding bites and crunch to this creamy drink. There are 3 affogato available here, each one seemingly interesting.
Come by for the perfect dessert on a hot day, and indulge yourself in their wide variety of quality flavours!
Thank you Giovanni L. and Openrice Singapore for the invite, as well as Rachel for the excellent hosting.
