Lunch at Liquids Cafe

The lunch venue was Liquids Cafe today, because we went to an appointment nearby. I did not manage to take photos of all the food items since I went with colleagues. Liquids Cafe is located at 56 Sembawang Road #01-01 / 02 Hong Heng Mansions, Singapore 779086 and the number to dial is 6452 3117.

A cafe with a soothing setting suggesting of repose and appreciation of the finer things in life (i.e. artworks in frames and the prettily painted walls), this hidden gem located at a rather inaccessible venue exudes warmth and welcome to all patrons - a charm of its own.

I started my meal with a Strawberry Fields "Test Tube"  - a strawberry and apple blended drink mounted on an icy stand - a very refreshing concept and I loved the sweet, fruity blend of course.

This is the Cream of Mushroom that came with the set lunch that a couple of my colleagues ordered - the soup was kind of frothy at the top layer, and the taste was rather diluted. There was no aroma or much traces of mushrooms, and there was a very strong milky taste to the soup.

I had the Garlic Prawns Baked Rice - a delectable dish that was made of rather fresh prawns (generous portion!), rice, mushrooms and cheese, baked to a golden deliciousness. Although it contained garlic, the flavor was not overwhelming or too strong - it was just nice enough to lend aroma to the rice but did not obliterate the rest of the flavors.

*Samuel had the Grilled Chicken Steak, comprising of a succulent slab of chicken breast, delicious gravy, juicy cob of corn and crispy fries.

*Sasha had the Spaghetti with Sausage - springy pasta with chewy-but-tender cuts of sausages, and made more sumptuous by the sapid taste of shitake mushrooms. Although the pasta looked deceptively plain and dry without much gravy / sauce, the spaghetti was not hard at all - it was really the kind of texture I hope to perfect. We were amazed at the burst of flavors as well.

I do not know how much the entire meal cost because this was a lovely treat. The colleague also held high praise for the Aglio Olio at this restaurant / cafe - recommending that this is his signature dish whenever he dines here.
