The restaurant is situated along a row of shophouses along Upper Changi Road, and its black and white signboard is hard to miss. The restaurant is not air-conditioned, which had us a little disappointed at first. But we later learned that it is done in a very Californian-style dining concept - good to chill out at, and a totally unpretentious setting.
Service was not very effective, but then that could be due to the lack of manpower. We had to wait awhile before someone came over and take our order.
We looked through the menu, and ordered. The cuisine here is mainly American / Western, with pizzas, salads and the usual meat dishes.
I had the Melts - blackforest ham, pineapple and cheese melts, basically two thin slices of pizza. The bread portion was just nice, chewy but not too soft or too hard. Paired with the sweet and salty ingredients, the flavor was a lovely Hawaiian-pizza blend. It makes for a great, light dinner and looks appetizing on its own.
I also ordered the Iced Chocolate, which was rather pale in coloring and tasted a tad diluted. This was rather disappointing.
*Charmaine had the beer-battered Fish & Chips. There was no crispiness to it, but a very gentle, well-prepared fish fillet that was tender to the touch but tasty in the mouth. The chips were thick and you could taste the potato instead of starch / flour that most fries taste of.
Overall, we spent about SGD$25.00 per person.
This is a very good place to chill out, and it is quiet. The only issue is the location; it is a little out of the way / hard to get here. Other than that, do feel free to pop by for good ol' American meals in a relaxed cafe, whether alone to read a book or with friends to hang out at.
