LUSH Aesthetics is an award-winning aesthetics clinic located at Tanglin Shopping Centre, providing a rather comprehensive range of beauty treatments from laser to fat freeze to teeth whitening etc, achieving fast results with safe procedures.

I was psyched to try out their Fractional Laser for the scars on my face - been hearing about them for years in fact. Last week, I finally plucked up the courage to turn up for the appointment.

Decor was simple and sleek, with a giant white mask that could probably represent both face and teeth. The service was polite, professional and pleasant.

So the standard procedure of registration began, with declaration form filling etc.

It was followed by a consultation session with a Consultant. I had Kenix, who was friendly and offered a lot of valuable tips during the analysis session, where she asked me on my skin concerns and beauty regime. She also explained the procedure and results of the Fractional Laser in details to me. Of course, she did try to work the package sign-on in, but I didn't commit. After all, I have sensitive skin and this was my first session. Let's see how it goes from here.

From my understanding, this laser treatment would not be using tiny needle-like pricks, has minimal (or to quote, "no downtime") downtime, and is a treatment targeted only at affected areas.

The treatment room was next. They have an array of their own skincare products, and various types of machines with different technologies to target an array of skin / body issues.

Kenix and my therapist Kate attended to me in the treatment room, wrapping my hair up and doing 2 rounds of cleansing to remove my makeup and impurities.

Then the machine was brought in and Kate began my Fractional Laser treatment, asking me to close my eyes. If I'd expected heat (like the kind I get from IPL treatment) or even the gentlest form of prickly sensation, I was disappointed.

The treatment was administered in shots by a handheld device, and as Kate glided it around my cheeks and forehead area, there were light tapping felt against my skin surface, with a typewriter-like sound all the while.

Immediately after treatment - note the patches of red on forehead and cheeks

The morning after - still a little red on the forehead and cheeks, but no pain or sensitivity

Kate was personable and chatty, so treatment felt like it was completed sooner than expected. I checked out my face and noted that there was mild redness on treated spots.

The redness subsided over the next couple of days, but it was not painful or itchy. I had to use lots of moisturising agents and sunblock though, but other than that, it didn't affect me much, and makeup could be applied as usual. Skin felt firmer after the treatment and appeared smoother.
