Review on Oxygen Rejuvenating Facial at Privilege Boutique @ Star Vista

Lunar New Year is around the corner, and everyone yearns to look their best, especially when visiting with relatives we have not seen for a year.

As such, facials are essential and I was privileged to be invited for an Oxygen Rejuvenating Facial (worth SGD$288.00) by Privilege Boutique. They are specialists in premier skincare products (such as dead sea minerals, plants, and the use of pearl in their skincare range, etc) without using machines.

Location of the beauty salon is near the escalators so it should be easy to find, but the odd structure of the building itself resulted in me having to walk a few rounds before finding Privilege Boutique. Anyway, liked the elegant and clean feel of the glossy white interior, lined with beautiful products but exudes no cluttered feel.

After a short questionnaire, I was brought to the treatment room, tastefully decorated in black and white hues. The blanket was so velvety, so soft; it made me want to cuddle there for a long time.

Anyway, my therapist Claudia started by cleansing my face. Then she applied Geranium-Lavender Oil onto my face beside a soothing, medium-pressured facial massage.

After that, a device was set up to spray jets of cooling, refreshing Oxygen onto my face. The mists were very comfortable, and oxygen is supposed to help hydrate and firm the face, improving its condition.

Next, Claudia spread Almond Mask over my face. This is supposed to help firm and brighten my complexion, and has a soft sweet smell to it.

My skin was noticeably clearer, radiant and moisturized after the hour-long treatment. She finished the session with some toner and sunscreen. I felt so good about my skin I went out bare-faced after that.

Having visited Paradise Dynasty @ Ion (review here) and deciding that it is my favorite Chinese restaurant, I decided to bring the Mom for dinner after a shopping session.

The ambience was a sophisticated combination of ancient Chinese imperial-style decor meets modern intricate elegance from ceiling to floor. Service was impeccable and professional, befitting of such a grand setting.

We started with the mandatory must-order signature colorful Xiao Long Baos (SGD$16.80) comprising of 8 different flavours. There was even a proper sequence to eat them- starting with Original to Ginseng Chicken to Foie Gras to Black Truffle; followed by Cheesey, Crab Roe, Garlic and Szechuan. Each flavour was distinct, unique, delicious and pork tender.

We shared some Radish Pastry - delicate, flakey skin cocooning sweet radish strips, served piping hot. The result instilled a craving in me that lasted for days on end.

Some Spinach to balance the meal and provide fibre for us. Moistened and made aromatic with dried garlic, the dish was a hit with us.

Scrambled Eggs with Scallops and Fish (SGD$16.80) was a hearty dish with smooth and springy texture.

Finally, under the large variety of La Mian (noodles) category,  we decided to go for Zha Jiang Mian  炸酱面  (minced pork tossed in sauce and noodles). The noodles had a good springy texture and sauce was palatable, leaning mildly towards the spicier side.

We also packed back the Yangzhou Fried Rice, comprising egg and fresh shrimps in the delelctable, texturized and well-moistened rice.

Overall we enjoyed the dining experience here at Paradise Dynasty and the mom could understand why this is my favorite Chinese restaurant completely. I look forward to being vack for more.

I am a lover of Japanese food, therefore am no stranger to popular items such as sushi and sashimi or ramen, etc. "Tendon", I must say, is a pretty new concept for me, as it has an entirely different meaning in English, meaning a 'flexible but inelastic cord of collagen tissue attaching a muscle to a bone'.

Then I learned that in Japanese, a "Tendon" was tempura on rice, which excited me immensely. I love battered fried stuff secretly, esepcially with seafood items. That was when I knew I had to visit Tendon Kohaku - they currwntly have 4 outlets in Singapore, being Chinatown Point, Suntec City, Boat Quay and Changi Airport Terminal 2.

Their usual signature is the Kohaku Tendon - rice bowl of Vegetables Tempura, Ebi (Prawns) Tempura, Chicken Tempura, etc). As with all their Tendon bowls, one could choose between Spicy and Non-Spicy, as well as choice of Japan 16 Multi-Grains Rice or Nanatsuboshi Hokkaido Rice.

I was here for their Winter special, the Ocean Gems Tendon (SGD$23.00), which comprised all the delicious Crustacean delights into one bowl - Shrimp Tempura, King Crab Tempura, Snow Crab Tempura, Scallops Tempura, Squid Tempura  and Oyster Tempura.

The batter was very light, almost like a dusting of flour to give the seafood a crispy coat; the use of seaweed enhanced the flavour with earthly notes. The flesh was springy and lovely to bite into, as well. In short, this was simply seafood haven, and I was happy to have tried it.
