Review on Too Faced Hangover 3-in-1 Coconut Setting Spray

Brand: Too Faced
Product: 3-in-1 primer,  setting and refreshing spray
Price: SGD$49.00

I was looking for setting powder because my favourite and effective Laura Mercier Powder (review here) finished. Usually I would just buy this product over and over, but recently my bff  *Pris mentioned Too Faced Hangover 3-in-1 Coconut Spray and how refreshing it felt on her skin. I was naturally tempted to give it a try and so I got a bottle.

The main ingredient is coconut water and this wonderful pro-biotic spray is oil-free, silicone-free and alcohol-free, therefore suitable for sensitive skin.

When using, hold the nozzle about an arm's length away and spray over the face. If used as a primer, spray before makeup application. If used for setting makeup and making it last longer, spray after full-face makeup is completed.

This spray can also be used throughout the day to refresh and hydrate skin; this is very important especially if we stay in air-conditioned environment for long hours. I also use the spray on my hair to give it some moisture throughout the day as well.

Overall verdict? Easy and fun to use, and I like it as a booster for my skin and hair. However, I find that it doesn't keep my makeup on as lasting as Laura Mercier setting powder for me. Also, not everyone may like the coconut smell even though it is very light. All in all, worth a shot.

Bright Skin Cosmetic Laser at CSK DermaCare @ Tiong Bahru Plaza

302 Tiong Bahru Road, #02-121 Tiong Bahru Plaza, Singapore 168732
Tel: 6100 6886

I was delighted for the opportunity to try out the Bright Skin Cosmetic Laser (worth SGD$168.00) at CSK DermaCare. My laser treatment must be performed by a doctor, so only selective outlets offer this laser treatment. CSK DermaCare is operated by ClearSK Aesthetics Group, providing a wide range of aesthetics services for our skincare needs.

The Bright Skin Cosmetic Laser is a fuss-free laser procedure with minimal pain and zero downtime. It brightens the skin, making pigmentation and other imperfections appear lighter. Plus, it gives the benefits of a brightening facial - all within a span of roughly 20 minutes.

The Tiong Bahru outlet is relatively small, but it is tastefully decorated. I took a seat and was attended to pretty quickly.  No numbing cream was applied on my face after makeup removal by therapist.

Then the doctor came in to cover my eyes with goggles. He touched the laser device to my face while explaining each step and benefits. Each touch of the device caused a frisson of pain (like an ant's bite) because of the heat. There was also a mild burning smell but Doctor assured me that it was normal, and nothing to worry about.

The treatment was fast, so you can even come for a quick lunchtime laser session! The therapist gave me a soothing and hydrating Aloe Vera Mask to apply that night.

My skin felt and looked very radiant after that. I didn't have makeup on the entire day, but still felt confident because my skin was glowing and bright.

Thank you ClearSK / CSK DermaCare for the beautiful bright skin cosmetic laser treatment!

Review on Aqua Filler Facial @ Bionn International

190 Clemenceau Avenue #04-20 Singapore Shopping Centre, Singapore 239924
Tel:  6100 0661 / 6338 8096
Website: http://bionn.biz

Bionn International was my go-to place for my facial issues, the very first facial treatment centre I signed up for. Due to personal reasons, I have stopped visiting them but was surprised to receive their call to return now, after a decade.

Founded in 2003, Bionn International uses a suite of facial services and house-brand products to provide solutions for customers' skin issues. This award-winning beauty centre has upgraded its services to medi-aestbetics level now, having their own doctors and are able to provide even fillers and boosters, etc.

They have 3 outlets now, at Singapore Shopping Centre, Peck Seah Street and One KM Mall - I returned to the SSC branch. Still donning its corporate colors of blue and white, the outlet seemed to have undergone a facelift, looking even more comfortable and professional now.  The centre manager, consultant and therapists seem to be more well-spoken and customer-oriented now (in the past they were very huge on hard-selling and up-selling).

I changed into the gown and the therapist removed my makeup before doing cleansing. Then a machine was uses remove dead skin cells using some kind of suction tube.

Following that, extraction and eye brow shaping. Next, another device was used to kill bacteria using some infrared light - made a buzzing sound and had a strong door but gentle on the skin.

Moving on, facial massage which felt very good and lifting. Then a generous layer of Hydraulic Acid was spread over my face. Another equipment was brought into the room, attached with a black nozzle that produced suction to open up the pores for better absorption and deeper penetration of the hydraulic acid. There was water being sprayed with each contact on the skin as well, extremely quenching sensation.

Both photos above no-filter, and no makeup. Look at how
clear and moisturised my skin fared, after the treatment.

Finally, the application of a cooling Stem Cell mask over my face as well as Protein Eye Treatment Mask while I tested for 20-30 minutes. Brand finale was toner and moisturizer, followed by a consultation.

My skin felt moisturizer and brighter, utterly soothed. The Aqua Filler Facial costs SGD$280.00 a session and is undeniably beneficial for my skin; I should come back more often.

Thank you Bionn International for taking care of, and pampering my face!

Review of PDRN Skin Renewal Therapy by Renaza @ Palais Renaissance

390 Orchard Road #03-10 / 11 Palais Renaissance, Singapore 238871
Tel: 6235 3343

PDRN is one of the newest trends in beauty sector, a breakthrough technology that goes under the surface of the skin to treat it effectively- within minimum downtime. PDRN stands for Polydeoxyriboneuclotide, a substance harvested from Salmon DNA.  It is a powerful natural healing ingredient, and helps our skin in terms of wound healing, anti-inflammatory as well as promotes cell growth and regeneration.

I visited Renaza Wellness Lifestyle Lab at its other outlet, at Marina Bay Link Mall for a Collagen Facial (review here). I am glad to be back at Renaza to try the PDRN Booster (SGD$600.00); it's Orchard outlet is even more spacious and lovely.

Unlike Rejuran Treatment (review here) which injects PDRN directly into the skin, and can only be done by certified doctors, PDRN Renewal Treatment here uses a different method to administer the same 2ml of serum into the skin. This special serum comprises PDRN, hyaluronic acid, glutathione and peptides - powerful ingredients to heal and improve skin conditions.  Let's see how it works.

First, my skin was cleansed by the therapist, followed by a Honey and Almond Scrub that smelled really delectable. This would remove all impurities for better absorption of the treatment.

Then a Collagen Hydrating Mask was spread over my face for about 10 to 15 minutes, to prepare my skin for the treatment. The mask had a strangely aromatic smell that reminded me of sandalwood.

The Epicells Booster machine was rolled in. This uses air pressure forming a substantial jet wave to deliver the PDRN serum at 450m/s.  The high pressure opens pores to deliver the active constituents of micro-molecules deep into the skin through atomization. The therapist tested the jet out on my shoulder first, to ensure I was okay with the jet of pressure that would "smack" the serum into my skin. Then she covered my ears (because machine was a little noisy) and eyes.

Treatment commenced, jets of serum went "piak-piak" onto my face, felt like I was flicking it (mild prick but not painful). I was only afraid the strong jets would hit my eyes but the therapist was very meticulous with her work. She increased the speed of the jets delivery when I was comfortable enough.

The Epicells Booster Treatment serves to stimulate collagen production, regenerate cells, minimizing flaws (spots, scars, acne, wrinkles etc), brightens skin, lighten pigmentation, lifts skin, clears pores and sebum. That's a lot of benefits in one short 30 minutes procedure!

Half my face was done first, to show me the difference. After a total of 1,000 shots fired, treatment was completed.

My skin was hydrated, brighter and pores looked tighter. The differences between this PDRN Skin Renewal Therapy and Rejuran are that (1) this has very minimal downtime (2) hence, can be done on a weekly basis while Rejuran' s on month-long intervals (3) results are gentler than Rejuran (4) can be performed by aestheticians and beauticians  (5) less costly than Rejuran treatments.

All in all, I rather enjoyed the experience a d the way it makes my skin feel. Thank you Renaza Wellness Lifestyle Lab!

Review on Bust Enhancement Treatment @ Tokyo Bust Express [Sponsored]

171 Penang Road #07-13 Regency House, Singapore 238464
Tel: 6262 6161

Having tried out the services at Tokyo Bust Express before (review here), seeing some results, I was honoured to be invited back to try their new service, a Chest Enhancement Service using totally organic and natural herbal products. Just to share a little- Tokyo Bust Express has been in Singapore for twelve (12) years.

No injections, pills or surgeries absolutely, and results are supposed to be permanent. No machines this time round, but purely using their special product made of more than 20 quality herbs, including Angelica Herb ("dang gui"), Japanese Yam Root, Fenugreek etc.

The consultants were very confident of results as they showed me some photos depicting "before" and "after" treatment shots of clients. Their treatments seek to help women with breasts-related concerns such as Enhancement (increasing of cup size, increasing of confidence, bettering love life, etc), to Firming (i.e. lifting of sagging breasts she to age or birth) to Breast Health, keeping the female parts healthy through detoxification etc.

After I changed into their black robe, Consultant Ashley took measurements of my breasts, and marked the areas where my nipple tips touched the wall (a piece of paper is pasted onto said wall). At the end of the session, we would again mark the points where the nipples touched (piece of paper on) the wall, to show results of evident improvement (i.e. higher breasts).

She proceeded to explain to me what each step of her massage entailed, and each type of gel cream used. Her massage was a series of pushes and kneads that sought to enlarge the mammary glands and drive underarm fats towards the breasts.

She completed one side and paused to show me the differences between the 2 breasts' positions and sizes. I noted the difference, and she proceeded to work on the other breast.

The treatment concluded with a Collagen Breast Mask which was cooling and comfortable.

The end results were pretty amazing- deeper cleavage due to realignment of breasts, and slight increase in size. Really not bad for one time! I also received a tube of Intensive Bust Enhancement Firming Cream for home maintenance use.

Thank you Tokyo Bust Express for the Breast Enhancement Treatment!

The Mommyhood Series [iii] - Pre-Natal Massage & Organic Facial by Schöne Mama @ Takashimaya [Sponsored]

391 Orchard Road #05-20 Ngee Ann City Tower B, Singapore 238872
Tel: 6904 5448

In my last chapter of The Mommyhood Series, I shared about my pregnancy journey (click here to read). Today, I would like to share my experience at Schöne Mama for their Pre-natal Massage and Pure Organic Facial (worth SGD$275.00).

With a name like Schöne Mama, I was surprised that they originated from China, and it means "美丽妈妈" (beautiful mother). Schöne Mama started in 2005, specialising in post-birth recovery services, and it has more than 300 outlets worldwide today. The first Singapore outlet was opened in 2016, receiving raving reviews since. I was psyched to have the opportunity to try out their services.

The outlet at Ngee Ann City is located on level 5, done up in pristine white with dashes of blue and green. The consultants and therapists were all experienced and friendly, having many years of experience in their respective trades.

After a consultation session answering questions regarding my lifestyle and pregnancy so far, the Pre-natal Massage commenced. It was a one-hour full body massage starting from the feet to torso to head. My masseur was a bubbly Thai lady in her late 40s or early 50s.

The Pre-natal Massage was very comfortable, using only plant-based natural oils. It aims at helping to relieve body aches, improve skin elasticity, strengthen back muscles, promote relaxation, improve overall wellness and most importantly, reduce water retention.

Following that, I enjoyed a 30-minute Pure Organic Facial using products with natural ingredients such as Centella, French Musk Rose Oil, etc.

It was soothing and very enjoyable as well, resulting in a glowing complexion at the end of it.

My treatment concluded with a nutritious bowl of some grains with red dates, for nourishing the skin.

Overall, I had a wonderful time here, feeling pampered and beautiful as a mom-to-be. Their professionalism and friendly service was very heart-warming as well. Thank you Schöne Mama for the excellent treatment.

The Mommyhood Series [ii] - My Pregnancy Journey

In my last entry - the first chapter of The Mommyhood Series (read more here), I talked about how we discovered we were expecting a baby girl.

My visit to the Gynaecologist's confirmed my pregnancy, and baby was 12 weeks' old by then. We were to have an Autumn baby; how exciting!

I saw Dr. Paul Tseng first, but later switched to Dr. W. H. Kee. During each visit, he would monitor my weight and blood pressure, do the necessary scans so we could see that Baby was healthy; and share stories as well as advice on what to expect during each stage. From 20th week onwards, I also had to do urine tests during each visit.

I could say I breezed by my first trimester since it was already over, and I didn't feel anything. Or rather, whatever uneasiness I felt were linked to my hectic schedule during the past 3 months (recap for those who didn't get to read my past entries- I was taking the property exams, shifting house and went Melbourne for 2 weeks back-to-back).

I didn't have much cravings for food; I think I had more cravings before pregnancy, Haha. I still enjoyed cakes and pastries a lot, just like pre-pregnancy days.

I also had to consume at least 8 to 10 glasses of fluids a day. Ideally, these fluids could be plain water; but if that's not possible - soups, caffeine free tea, juices, water-rich fruits etc all contribute to our liquids intake.

Tendency to feel more bloated was normal. I abstained from most carbonated drinks. Weight continued to increase by 1-2 kg a month (my own weight + baby's weight + water bag).

I was also advised to exercise at least 3 times a week - mainly walking and swimming. I could do Pre-natal Yoga but it seemed I could never find time for it.

Oh also, there's this saying about looking at photos of beautiful happy babies often, so that your baby would turn out this way, hopefully. Lol- so just toss genes out of then window and stare away at these pictures. They are cute to look at, anyway.

Talk to baby too! Educate it in its early stages by exposing it to nice music and your voice. You'll be surprised how it could actually understand, and absorb.

SECOND TRIMESTER
Second trimester was a little more challenging. I was adverse to a lot of smells, including skincare products that contain floral scents, chemicals, smell too creamy etc; I also grew adverse towards smells of my antibacterial hand-wash and washing detergents etc. Everything made me nauseous but the worst thing was that I couldn't throw up; they stayed inside me to haunt me, resulting in stuffiness around my chest area and headaches.

Also, I needed to look through the list of ingredients that went into the various skincare products, to ensure that they don't contain lead, butyl, propyl, paraben, sulfate, retinol, etc. I had to stop using anything that contained one of the supposedly-harmful ingredients.

I spent a bomb replacing skincare products - because I was adverse even to some of those organic / natural products. There was a lot of trial and error.  I even grew sick of my usual toothpaste!

And yes, I still used makeup during the course of my pregnancy because I believe there was no reason for me to become unattractive just because I was pregnant (light makeup is also considered a form of respect/ courtesy for clients in the business world).

I had to see the gynae on a monthly basis. On the 12th week, a series of tests were done on me - mainly health and blood tests. Mainly HIV and diabetic related. Remember that many women become diabetic during their pregnancy, or developed pre-clampsia (high blood pressure).

During the 20th week, we did the Chromosome Test to ascertain that Baby did not have any birth disorders or something like that. We also found out the gender by then - it was going to be a Baby Girl.

Body heat was another killer for me - I was constantly feeling so hot, I think it attributed to my headaches, need to defecate more than once a day, and even nausea. I needed the air-conditioner to sleep nightly too.

We started looking out for Baby Insurance, comparing quotes and coverage from different insurers. We settled on a certain established company that offered a comprehensive policy with competitive rates, covering an additional 22 baby illnesses, and has a beautiful facility for Mommy and baby to use for various activities. Insurance is very important- you  never know what happens in life.

Shopping for clothes was an adventure as the belly grew larger and larger and dresses  became shorter and tighter. I bought loose fitting clothes that I was confident of wearing even post-pregnancy.

By 26th week, the Baby's kicks should be more prominent and frequent. From here onwards, monitor their movements and ensure they are active. There are various methods to monitor and count their kicks - do some research on it.

THIRD TRIMESTER
They say this is this trimester where hormones run the wildest but I think I was fine. I felt that my temperament was worse during the first 2 trimesters, mainly due to the discomfort I felt.

Having insomniac nights or waking up in the middle of the nights was common. It upset me, but did not cause me very much discomfort in the daytime.

Diet-wise, I cut back on carbohydrates because by the end of the full term I gained 20 kilograms. My Gynae had wanted me to gain about a kilo a month so by his standard i was severely overweight. Other than that, I had a lot of fruit and proteins in my meals.

We should be attending some parental courses but never seemed to find time. Friends passed me some good books to read but I could not get started on them as well. Google became my best friend. I found myself constantly searching for "can pregnant women do / eat / drink xxxxx?"

Physically, the giddiness and adverse to scents lessened, but not completely.

My skin started to become more sensitive and itchy, especially the skin on my legs and ankles. I was fortunate that my face was fine - I didn't have super oily skin nor pimples popping all over.

My feet and legs became very swollen; shoes had to be expanded. I loved the 2 pairs of Ecco shoes I got as they were comfortable and looked good. Fortunately I did not have cramps which could be really painful. I did experience numbness in my hands and fingers frequently though.

I became heavier and clumsier. Certain chores that could be done in 5 minutes; I needed 10 minutes by now. I could not bend down or bend over. Getting out of bed required a lot of efforts.

Despite my heavy weight and I was close to my Estimated Delivery Date ("EDD"), I was still actively going around appointments and events. 6 days before the actual EDD, I could still find a nice evening gown to wear for a gala event (see picture at top of post).

Gynae visits became a weekly affair by now.

By last few weeks we should start feeling contractions in the womb. The initial contractions would be so mild, we'd often confuse it with Baby's kicking. Then they get more intense. Doctor advised keeping in my bag a change of clothes, disposable underwear, maternity pads and a disposable sheet in case water bag burst while I was out.

We were also advised to pack the Hospital Bag and put it in the car, to prepare for Baby's arrival anytime. The bag should include supplies I would need for hospital stay, clothes for Baby, etc.

Emotionally, oh well, keeping busy is vital. It adds meaning to life and prevents us from over-thinking. I did have my moments of paranoia fearing that my hubby might have another hunny- so trust and communication are very important.

By now you would also realise that everyone around you is dishing out advice on what to do and what not to do during pregnancy. I dislike especially the superstitious advice that have no basis - I walked around a funeral parlour pretty often lol. It's all in the mind and heart. Everyone means well, but take all advice with a pinch of salt. Someone would tell you to take more bird's nest whereas another would ask you to abstain from it. Let's just say that each mother's body and baby's body are different; take everything in moderation.

Don't give yourself too much stress. The way we feel affects our babies greatly. Enjoy the pregnancy journey while it lasts.

My next chapter of The Mommyhood Series would focus on Prenatal Massage and Facial by SchoeMama @ Takashimaya. Keep a close lookout for it.

Eyelash Extensions, Tummy Slimming Massage & Manicure @ Ease Beauty Spa

131 Jurong East St. 13, #01-251 Singapore 600131
Tel: 6255 5781

Ease Beauty Spa is a one-stop ladies' only beauty spa, conveniently located at Jurong East within the banking district. The founders are 2 young and beautiful Singaporean ladies with many years of experience in the beauty sector. Ease Beauty Spa provides many services including facials, massage, manicure, pedicure, eyelash extensions, eyebrow embroidery etc - basically most of the beauty treatments that we females enjoy so much.

I tried out several services at their parlour, since it is a one-stop service. The first was the Tummy Slimming Massage (SGD$68.00), an intensive massage targeted at the reducing tummy fats by way of methodical series of kneading, etc. Pure Ginger Oil is rubbed on the abdomen area before the massage commenced, evoking a lovely warmth that makes me confident that my fats were being burned up surely. I also would like to comment that I was surprised at the vast spaciousness of their Treatment Room.

eye lash extension in order

Next service I tried was the Eye Lash Extensions (SGD$60.00 onwards). I have seen many friends doing eye lash extensions, and the elongated lashes looked so beautiful. But I have also witnessed some of them in pain during their extension treatment sometime ago (elsewhere), so I have never thought of trying it until now. Zeris is a good persuader. :)

The Eye Lash Extension session took around 1.5 hours, a meticulous lash-by-lash attachment that emitted zero discomfort at all. I must have fallen asleep during the session itself, because when I was woken up, I noticed long, fluttery lashes that did not feel heavy at all; in fact, they did not feel any different. Yet whenever I look into the mirrors I could not help smiling because these beautiful lashes made my eyes look larger, and I saved so much time now that I do not see the need to use eyeliners and eye-shadow.

Finally, I also did Gel Manicure and Gel Pedicure with them. They use really comfortable massage chairs here so we could enjoy a lovely back massage while getting our nails treated. For my toenails, I chose a simple silver color.

For my fingernails, I tried the currently trendy Cat's Eyes Gel Manicure, where the colors look dark like reflections from different angles. The special design (and claimed to be the only nail salon offering this design) is the floral design that looked really good and feminine.

Updates: went back for another round of Gel Manicure in these pretty princessy hues.

Overall, I enjoyed the beauty treatments here and the warm hospitality of Zeris and crew. I will be back to do an 6D Eyebrows aka "Misty" under Ease Beauty Spa again soon.
