Wondering to do with my newly-shortened hair when Kris Goh from Chambers Hair Salon reached out to me, inviting me for a session of Mucota Algana + Argan Oil Hair Treatment (worth SGD$310 onwards). I accepted the invite, and that was one of the best decisions I'd ever made. Why? I'll let you in on it later, but for now, let me describe a little about Chambers Hair Salon.

A fairly-new hair salon along Raffles Place area, Chambers Hair Salon gives off a clean, concise and comfortable vibe with its monochrome interiors. Personable service by Kris made me feel that our session was off to a great start, and then I discovered that there's a cabinet beneath the mirror  in front of my seat, allowing us to deposit our bags! Now I don't have to share a seat with me bag and get my butt squeezed, or being blocked by my bags on the table obstructing my mirror reflections, which is often the case when visiting other hair salons.

Kris explained to me the benefits of Mucota Algana+ Argan Oil Treatment, and that their salon only carries this quality Japanese series of hair products.  I didn't know what to expect and was very frankly expecting it to merely be yet "another hair treatment" - one that typically lasts for up to 3 days and then poof, hair is back to normal again.

Algana+ is in-fact, a cysteine-based treatment (amino acid, in layman's terms), giving our hair strength and durability. It is completely natural, safe, does not contain cancer-causing formaldehyde, and yes, IT IS SUITABLE FOR PREGNANT MOMS as well (I'm told). It is also suitable for people with wildly untamed hair or severely damaged hair due to past chemical treatments.  Algana+ is your solution, your hair's savior absolutely.

My hair was washed and re-washed between 2 separate applications of Mucota Algana + Argan Oil Treatment, namely Step 1 and Step 2. The product felt comfortable on the hair - not weighing heavy with richness or oil, and there was no smell detected at all.

Kris straightened my hair using lower heat than usual hair-straightening treatments, explaining that this works like a Soft-Rebonding as well, treating the hair at the same time, and keeping it sleek, straight, smooth, healthy and manageable for up to 6 months. If you don't like straightening, you can also choose to the perming version, enjoying soft curls for your mane of soft, healthy, Mucota-treated tresses.

If I had been skeptical at first, I am now very much convinced by the wonders and magic of Mucota Algana+ Argan Oil Treatment. It has been 2 weeks since my treatment, and I wake up everyday with soft, smooth, ready-to-go-out hair! You should definitely give it a go, too!

So the hair has grown long since my last cut, but my hair has always grown fast, relieving me of worries of a bad hairdo. It was layered and fell into a nice "V" shape and has reached my waist.

Long hair was fun as I could do more hair-styles with it, and play around with more hair accessories. But alas, another long trip is coming up in November 2018, and I needed to shorten the tresses so that they would dry easier at night. I was honoured to receive a Hair Cut (worth SGD$129.00 onwards) by Toni & Guy Salon.

They were started 50 years ago in London by the Mascolo Brothers and have since expanded worldwide with 430 branches. The first outlet in Singapore was started in 1950 by David Mercer, one of their Educational Directors at that time. Yes, Toni & Guy Salon is both a prestigious hair salon as well as hair academy.

In Singapore, they have branches located at East Coast Road, Star Vista, Mandarin Gallery and Marina Bay Financial Centre. Each salon is tastefully decorated in an unpretentious, quasi-rustic manner focused on comfort and client experience.

After I was seated and served drinks, my hairstylist did a quick interview with me to understand my hair condition and concerns first, before suggesting the type of hairstyle to cut for me.

I underwent a Hairwash with their quality products next. They carry and use products by L'Oreal, Keratase, Redken and Label.M.

With some expert cutting, trimming, layering and blow-drying, I looked into the mirror 1.5 hours later to see a younger me, feeling light-headed (literally) with happiness at my new chin-length hair.

My friendly Hairstylist also offered lots of haircare tips during the session, and recommended some suitable products that I could use for my hair concerns.

All in all, I was very pleased with my new hairstyle and the impeccable service here at Toni & Guy Salon. Thank you for the hair makeover!

Having tried out various means of hair removal methods for Brazilian areas, such as Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and E-pulse Light Treatment (EPL), Sugaring, etc, I was intrigued to give this new, patented laser technology Super Hair Removal (SHR) a try. This methods removes hair permanently and painlessly (depending on the level of heat adjusted for each individual).

As such, I visited True Shape Spa, located at Orchard Shopping Centre - a beauty and wellness centre with over 20 years of history and experience. Services provided by them include hair removal, facial, massage, brows and bust enhancement treatments etc. Service crew was chatty, friendly and very eager to up-sell.

True Shape Spa is spacious - a long unit filled with treatment rooms and even a shower room, for customers to wash up especially before Brazilian procedures. Decor is simple with muted sophistication and comfortable.  Even the treatments rooms are spacious, and stocked with many essentials for customers' after-treatment grooming requirements.

So, to share a little more about SHR - it is an advanced hair removal system, destroying hair follicles permanently by using low-influence repetitive laser pulses targeted at vulnerable hair follicles, providing contact cooling at the same time, resulting in a painless hair removal experience. Despite its painless glides upon the skin, each SHR releases 20 - 30 shots onto each hair follicle during treatment, a rather hefty difference against the usual light treatments releasing only 2-3 shots. I'm told thats its Advance Florescence Technology (AFT) can also provide whitening effect, thus customers who undergo this treatment are able to kill 2 birds with one single stone.

I agreed to try SHR for arms, legs and Brazilian areas. One is expected to shave their intended SHR areas before coming down for the actual session. After cleansing, a cool, clear gel was spread across my skin surface. My therapist Chloe then tested the heat of the device upon my skin. Once I gave my okay, she proceeded to apply the device to my skin.  Like IPL, strong bursts of bright light filled the room with each trigger.

After SHR - skin is smooth, clear and noticeably fairer.

Each limb took only around 5 minutes to complete; Brazilian took a little longer because of the tenderness of the area. Overall, my hair removal treatment for all 5 areas were completed within around 30 minutes - without pain or fuss, super efficient.

Did I feel more confident after the hair removal? You bet. I kept touching my arm to feel its baby-soft smoothness, and cannot wait for all hair to be permanently removed in due course (with 6-8 sessions, for my body hair growth condition). My last experience with The Comb Hair Studio at Raffles Place (review here) was an excellent one, and hence I am delighted to be invited for the grand opening of their new outlet at Boat Quay.

They provide a wide range of hair services including trim and cut, hair styling, hair treatment etc . This outlet may not be in a huge unit, but they manage to make the interior very spacious and comfortable.

Pastries and food items were provided. The desserts were very lovely, especially the mini Apple Crumble Tartlets and Earl Grey Panna Cotta. I also liked the Pasta and Calamari.

I had a session of Trim and Treatment by their talented Stylists. The head massage that I enjoyed during the hairwash was very rejuvenating and comfortable , thoroughly pressing and kneading at different spots of my head to soothe. I left the place feeling refreshed and pretty.

GroGlo Hair & Beauty Bar is a very new hair and scalp treatment centre, located conveniently next to the escalators on level 4, Clarke Quay Central. Made of up a team of young, beautiful and talented ladies, GroGlo Hair & Beauty Bar is not your usual hair and scalp treatment salon, and here's why:

1. They use only natural products and ingredients, as well as latest technology in their treatment programmes
2. They don't believe in hard-selling packages, because customers should be comfortable in everything they do. Treatments by per-session booking are welcomed too
3. Besides treatment at their salon, they also strongly believe and advocate that their customers are well-equipped and empowered to take care of their scalp at home, through their easy-to-use kits and products.

Besides hair treatments, they also have 2 rooms for massage services, curated to care deeply for the body. The current massages include Meridien (Jin Luo) Massage and Meridien Tissue Manipulation  (MTM) Massage.

I was honoured to be invited here for a session of their Natural Peptide Hair & Scalp Treatment (worth SGD$168.00) - a 1.5 hours treatment comprising of several steps. To be frank, I wasn't sure of what to expect, but the moment I stepped into this bright, vibrant beauty bar, I felt very comfortable. The team of young but experienced ladies were all very warm and friendly. What I liked best was how they communicated with each other as well - easy going, friendly with lots of laughter. An environment as such, I feel, puts the customers at ease seeing how happy the team members are, and we too, get infected with the delightful vibes.

The first step began with the usual form filling and an interview on my lifestyle as well as hair + scalp care routine. Then my consultant did a scan analysis of my scalp and explained to me what each photo meant.

Then I went over to the hair treatment area. Service was excellent, from the hot tea they served to taking care of my heavy bag so I could sit comfortably at the armchair. etc. My therapist combed through my hair with an interesting crown-shaped Crystal Comb, massaging the scalp with it, and explained to me the benefits of the crystal on my scalp.

Next, an interesting gel was applied to my scalp. When she showed the gel to me, it was clear; upon massaging it onto various sections of my scalp, it began to foam up. A rinse was warranted afterwards, at the hair-wash area tucked in the back to offer privacy.

A series of tonic and gels were being applied to my hair, all using natural products. A couple of different steaming / treatment sessions entailed, working their magic into my head. My therapist also did a rejuvenating shoulder and back massage for me. 

After the 2nd rinse and more of those organic goodies went into my scalp, I went back to the consultation room for another round of scalp scan. This time, the hair shafts looked stronger and patches of blockages on the scalp were cleared up. 

I cannot wait to get started on these gorgeous-looking Shampoos- La Focus Nature Organic Extract Peptide White Tea Anti-Sebum Shampoo (targeting oily scalp) as well as La Focus Nature Organic Extract Peptide Calendula Relieve and Restore Shampoo (SGD$40.00 each). - to be used alternatively to target the scalp issues I am having currently.

Review on Classic Scalp Treatment at TK Trichokare @ Orchard

TK Trichokare is an award-winning trichological centre that targets hair loss / scalp issues by using European herbal herbal remedies. They also have a full range of house-brand hair care products and certified trichologists.

Trichologists are certified hair and scalp specialists (a subset of dermatologist) who who diagnose the causes of hair fall, hair breakage, hair thinning, miniaturization of hairs ; diseases of the scalp and treat according to cause.

I was here for a session of Customised Hair Treatment (worth SGD$388.00) at the Orchard Gateway outlet. The interior decor was posh and ambience was sophisicated politeness - you get good English-speaking staff and none of that loud in-house chatter which is common in many other hair treatment centres.

After filling out the Health & Lifestyle questionnaire, my consultant Samantha explained to me the procedure and types of treatments available here at TK Trichokare. Then she conducted a Scalp Analysis on my hair after examining my scalp and hair condition. The computer screen showed the results and she explained each photo to me.

Then I was brought to the treatment hall, donned a classy silver Kimono Robe (instead of the usual towels or hair salon robes) while hot Rose Tea and hot towel were served.

The first step of my treatment was the application of Intensive Active Mask, made up of lactic acid, Vitamin E, white clay and essential oil of mint & orange. These ingredients help to detox, regulate grease, prevent damage and generally, improve scalp condition. The mask was meticulously spread onto different sections of my scalp, and then  left on for 20 minutes to work its magic before a Shampoo-ing session.

After blow-drying my hair, their Hair Tonic was used to treat my scalp. The tonic is made of European herb, rich in texture and would help cleanse scalp as well as strengthen it. My jair therapist also gave me a very comfortable Hair Massage which should stimulate hair growth / re-growth.

Lastly, an Infra Red Light Treatment where a machine was placed over my head to emit red infra rays onto my scalp to improve blood circulation and generates hair regrowth.

This time round back in the consultation room, Samantha ran the hair scope through my scalp once again, showing me the differences before and after treatment. My scalp was clog-free and appeared so much cleaner now.

Home maintenance kit comprises TK Trichokare Scalp-Care Shampoo and Conditioner, as well as Anti-Static Hair Brush to prevent hair fall while brushing my long tresses.
