Poem: Back into the Cold

I've fallen,
From the grounds I stood on,
Not into your arms,
But missing a step,
Like the beat of my heart,
Hitting the lows,
By a twist of fate,
Injured my own foot.

The door swung open,
Only to raise my expectations,
With the least anticipation,
Pain was forgotten,
As your eyes swirled in my own,
Your touch, warm;
But I had to go,
I had to turn and run back into the cold.
