Hunting for a place in the East to dine on first day of Lunar New Year, and we were glad that Canton Paradise is open for business. I had just tried Canton Paradise at MBS (review here), so I was looking forward to eating the food here again.
We started with a small Abalone Yu Sheng (SGD$39.80) and the waitress helped to douse the ingredients while reciting words of blessings and well wishes with each item.
Then there were Crystal Prawns with Salted Egg (SGD$29.70 for medium) - huge bouncy prawns battered with luscious salted egg sauce, utterly delicious.
There was also HPB Chives stir-fried with Mushroom and Garlic (SGD$18.80 for small), also commonly known as Qing Long Vegetables; very crunchy and tasty.
Black Pepper Marbled Beef (SGD$31.20) was served next, mildly spicy flavours over succulent pieces of thinly-sliced beef.
Finally, Stewed Rice Vermicelli with Prawns in XO Sauce (SGD$25.80). It was utterly tasty with spicy overtures and fresh springy prawns.
