Lunch at Maison Ikkuko Cafe

It was time for catching up with one of the Buddies, and we chose Maison Ikkuko this time - a lifestyle turnstile that is a cafe by day and cocktails bar by night. Look at all the low, cushy seats that are so comfortable to sink into - though a little low for eating / drinking.

The bar stools might have been easier to navigate and not having to bump into those sitting behind us, but we were looking for comfort, back to the couch for us.

They also have an assortment of delectable-looking pastries besides the sandwiches and beverages. I was tempted by the rainbow cake, but I would be heading to Le Chocolat Cafe later in the evening for the same, so I abstained.

The Buddy had a hot Latte (SGD$5.00) - which was creamy and aromatic , the way he likes it.

I had the Iced Vanilla Latte (SGD7.00) - a decadent indulgence in its creamy deliciousness.

I also had the Smoked Salmon and Avocado Sandwich (SGD$16.00) with wholemeal bread. The bread was crispy, and the dill sour cream was thickly distinctive in flavor. The smoked salmon was springy in texture and buttery avocado added to the overall explosive texture of the scrumptious sandwich.

The Buddy had a slice of Chocolate Fudge Cake (SGD$5.50) - a rich slice of chocolate heaven - a little hint of stickiness and solid fluffiness all made of bittersweet chocolate - a delightful indulgence anytime. The chocolate flakes sprinkled atop adds a tinge of crunchiness to the delectable dessert.

A little showcase of the upstairs area, a tribute from my previous visits. These gorgeous golden bottles lined the stairwell landing on the way up, giving it a very Egyptian feel.

Now we've come to the upstairs area - more seats and a door leading out into the small rooftop bar. I love the rough brick walls and picture windows of this pretty little cafe.

And a hot pot of tea for the 'lil me who'd been drenched in the rain earlier on in the West area while visiting a client (trust me, the rain was so intense that even the car's shelter + umbrella was no defense against getting wet. Well, herein ends my review on the pretty and raved-about Maison Ikkuko.
