Time: 7.15pm

I was delighted and honoured to be invited by Burpple Singapore for a Glenfiddich LIVE event. I didnt know what to expect except lots of whiskey drinks. Thankfully it was much more interesting than that.

We started with a Mojito-like Cocktail, sweet with cirusty hints and a light dash of alcohol; murky-textured but refreshing.

Then the introduction started with a VR-experience introduction of Glenfiddich, its origins, and the place where it is created. The host also shared that Glenfiddich derived its name from " Valley of the Deer", and is made from malt, water and yeast.

We began with a 12th year Glenfiddich, with lovely green pear notes. We were asked to sniff the drink before sipping- strong ethanol and alcoholic notes masked the fruity notes of the Whiskey.

As such, we were asked to place our palm tightly over the mouth of the Whiskey glass and turn it around. Then rub our palms gently before flipping them dry - and to cup the palms over the nose now. Ahhhh yes, the fruity notes of peach and green pear were much more evident now.

This Whiskey's recommend pairing was with somethings briny, such as Parma Ham; which we tried and enjoyed it immensely.

Whiskey Cocktail (Highball) for this 12th year Whiskey comprised Szechuan Peppercorns (those who love mala spicy items would recognise these peppercorns); the beverage itself wasn't fiery hot though.

Next up, the 15th year Whiskey, with a lovely pale red hue and beautiful fruity notes, like prunes. The recommended pairing for this drink is Dark Chocolate and I loved the sophisticated, feminine combination.

The Highball Cocktail with this Whiskey was concocted with milder spices, making the beverage rather bland.

Finally, 18th year Glenfiddich for us,  a  beautiful golden hue. Its recommended pairing was with Strawberries.

Highball Cocktail for this Whiskey was composed with Cinnamon for a lovely flavour.

Overall, the Whiskey tasting session was enriching, interesting and fun. Thank you William Grant & Sons for having us, and Burpple (esp. Dex and Muriel) for the invite!
