Drinks at The Pump Room @ Clarke Quay

3B River Valley Road #01-09 / 10 Clarke Quay, Singapore 179021
Tel: 6334 2628

Opened since December 2006, The Pump Room is no doubt one of Singapore's longer-standing microbreweries, seeing us through the days of vibrant Clarke Quay to the currently more toned-down lifestyle hub. Conceptualizing 3 into 1, The Pump Room is a microbrewery, a bistro as well as a bar with live band and dance floor!

We decided to revisit The Pump Room for old times' sake, hanging out and catching up. As it was a weekday evening, they also had some Happy Hour promo for one-for-one beers, wine or housepour. Their beers are freshly brewed on site and are thus unpasteurized and unfiltered.  Service was a little slow though, but that could be because we were seated outdoors to avoid the din within.

Food menu consisted of mainly Western tapas and main dishes with Asian twists, like Oysters, pan-seared Scallops, Antipasto, Beef Salad to Ribs, Pork Knuckle and Fish & Chips etc. We started with some Sauteed Spicy Ikan Bilis (SGD$12.00) which were deep-fried anchovies, crispy but utterly salty. We barely finished 1/3 of the entire basket, and wondered if it was meant for pairing with staples like rice or bread.

There was also a Basket of Thick Fries (SGD$10.00), delicious sticks of potato deep-fried and was a good snack over drinks and chatter. I mean, one could hardly go wrong with fries, right?

The Crispy Harissa Sea Bass (SGD$25.00) was sweet-fleshed and crispy on the exterior as promised; served with red onion, baby spinach, couscous and lemon wedge, making for a filling and healthy mains.

Drinks were glasses of Red Wine (SGD$13.00), White Wine (SGD$13.00) and Golden Ale Beer (SGD$14.50).  It is still one of our favorite places to hang out at and bask in the vibrant ambience of an area we fondly remember as clubbers' paradise.
