Sometimes, the more
Understanding that you are,
Makes me feel all the more
Guilty, and I don't like
This strange
Feeling coming over me.
Other times, the less
You show concern, the bitterness
Mounts, shadowing the gentleness
I'd meant to show; the kindness
Goes off like flames in the darkness,
Relentless.
