I was excited to have dinner at The Fireplace at Tanglin Club for an event, and also to meet new friends, as well as catching up with familiar faces (if any).  This is a beautiful private club located off Stevens Road, beside The American Club, with lots of facilities to boost, as well as a few restaurants and lounges.

Cocktail reception was from 6.30pm to 7.00pm, with drinks and canapes served before dinner commencement.  It was there and then that we mingled and gathered like-minded individuals to sit together for dinner later on.

Dinner took place at The Fireplace Restaurant. After a short opening speech, we proceeded - table by table - to the buffet stand for our dinner. The food looked good and the mingling did not stop even as we were seated over drinks and dinner.

I polished off a few glasses of reds and some bread starter over conversations.

For food, the Roast Beef was good- succulent and tasty; many of us had multiple helpings of that.  I enjoyed my salad and the Mushroom and Pumpkin dish too.

The Seafood was enjoyable too - steamed mussels in garlic butter sauce, gratinated scallops with cheese and pesto (creamy, tasty) and the prawn tempura was utterly aromatic - we could smell them even from where we were seated).

Dessert was a delightful spread of fruits and cheese platter, as well as assortment of mini cakes / tarts. I loved the chocolate mousse and berry tartlets the most - the former being rich in its creamy texture, and the latter, fluffy, crunchy, saccharine.  The chocolate chip madelaines were fabulous too - buttery, crumbly, sweet.

I finished up with a cup of Hot Tea over more chatter.

There was a Wine Auction during the dinner to raise funds for the SG50 scholarships. I was one of the lucky bidders to walk away with a bottle of Mad Fish reds - cannot wait to sip it.   It was a fabulous event - thank you Murdoch University Alumni for organising it!
