Following the previous entry on Soteria's Beauty Event, in which I walked away with prettily painted red-white National Day-themed nails (read review here),

After the nails, I was invited to try their E-style Skin Rejuvenation facial treatment, similar to IPL.  The RF treatment passes radio frequency electricity through the skin to heat up the tissue, contracting it, generating collagen production. This treatment is comfortable and effective way to achieve skin tightening, wrinkle reduction, pore minimization, as well as contouring the face.   A session of this costs SGD$320.00, and is supposed to bring about improved skin tone, texture and elasticity.

Their treatment rooms are furnished in posh red and white tones, giving off a cozy yet comfortable vibe. We are supposed to change into comfortable gold satin robes for the treatmnet, and I gladly obliged.  The coolness of the material was soothing in itself.

I was attended to by the amicable Ai Wen. The standard procedure of wrapping up the hair, removing of makeup was being executed. Soteria Face uses a lot of Babor products - a good German skincare brand that is exclusive to only about 5 distributors in Singapore. The cleansing foam was very light and bubbly, completely soothing the skin.

There will be slight redness on the face after the treatment, because of the heat of the light

The treatment began when the face was naked, after triple-cleansing with Babor cleansing foam and milk, to remove all traces of makeup.  Ai Wen explained professionally what each product was for, and its benefits thoroughly, so that we have a better understanding of what was being used on our skin.

A cool gel was then spread over the face before the RF machine was being used.

As it was a form of light treatment, my eyes were covered during the process. Each point of contact brought about a small jolt of sharp pain - quick and intense - the pain also passed very quickly. It was nothing compared to my laser treatment (review here) or derma-roller treatment (review up soon). Through the blindfold I could still "see" the flashes of light each time the RF came into contact with my face.

Ai Wen did half the face first, so that I could see the visible differences in texture and pore size. Then we proceeded with the second half of the face. The tightness and smoothness were rather distinct.

Finally, a Babor hydrating mask was being applied over my face - it was not cooling to the touch, but was very thick, like mud. It hardened gradually, so I was asked to take a short 15 minutes rest. Ai Wen returned later to peel off the mask along with some massage; she also advised me to stay out of the sun for the next 3 days if possible; and intensive use of sunblock was necessary.

My face felt rejuvenated, tightened and just.... healthier in general. The service was professional and gentle, and the ambience was serene.  Thank you Soteria Face for the facial session, and thank you Engel for the invite!
